The Role

Overview

Tasks

-Work with other managers and HR to oversee hire, training, performance appraisal, discipline and termination of production, warehouse and maintenance employees, and resolve employee relations issues. -Schedule equipment maintenance and repair to coordinate with production schedules. -Establish metrics for measuring production results, gather and report data, and take appropriate action based on results, when appropriate. -Design, repair or modify production equipment. -Manage inventory of materials, parts, tools and/or finished product to maintain required supply. -Responsible for monitoring and enforcing plant procedures and work rules. -Develop budget and cost controls, establish and maintain performance results and reports results, as required. -Establishing product formulation, development and modification requirements. -Review all finished paperwork completed on the plant floor. -Implement and monitor safety programs, to eliminate or reduce the number of unsafe conditions that could result in injury or damage. -Work with management to establish production and quality control standards. Plan and direct production activities directly and through subordinate supervisors and/or lead employees. -Identify and implement effective strategic plans, programs, and solutions to improve production and costs through direct and subordinate supervisor actions. -Conduct regular meetings with crews to include safety, quality and continuous improvement, work area order and policy changes. -Responsible for scheduling, monitoring of raw material usage and finished goods. -Assist plant manager with processing issues. -Review raw and other material and supply needs, and work with procurement to ensure material needs are met and delivered in timely manner. Plan future requirements based on orders, production schedules and forecasts. -Coordinate production activities with other functions such as procurement, maintenance and quality control to obtain optimum production results.

What You Bring

-Ability to effectively resolve problems and implement workable implementation plans, utilizing good judgment and creativity. -Understanding of all phases of production line processes and procedures. Ability to effectively collaborate with management team and evaluate manufacturing operation, understand how to effectively integrate multiple production lines, and achieve or exceed expected results. -Ability to read and interpret manufacturing instructions, drawings, schematics, blue prints, etc. Ability to perform basic mathematical functions, and calculate figures, percentages, discounts, etc. -Experience working with, and enhancing, materials and production methods used in production at facility. -Knowledge of materials, processes and technologies used in Spartech products, as they apply to production associated with job preferred. -Familiarity with ISO standards, including ISO/TS 16949, when applicable. -Experience working in ISO compliant environment and implementing required standards. -Ability to work in, build, and maintain a strong team environment. -Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint. -Associates degree in technical discipline, manufacturing, industrial engineer, or related or equivalent. -Understanding of ERP or other manufacturing software, preferably with Oracle manufacturing systems. -Minimum four years' experience in production management role. -Minimum two years' experience with labor relations. -Knowledge of productions planning, warehousing, purchasing and material control processes. -Good understanding safety standards and regulations; understanding of the Spartech Health & Safety Management System preferred. -Ability to prioritize and plan work effectively and develop and execute project plans. -Experience working with ERP system, SAP, manufacturing or similar software applications preferred (such as Oracle). -Minimum six years of production experience, preferably in a plastic's environment similar to Spartech. -A working knowledge of engineering, maintenance and design, repair and modification. -Ability to effectively work with labor force and resolve disciplinary and employee relations issues. -Regular attendance. -Effectively interface with all levels and types of internal and external individuals and customers, verbally and in writing. Ability to effectively document and enter production status, procedures and other job-related information.
