Tasks

They plan & execute both tasks and projects to ensure successful delivery in terms of quality, cost and time. A senior engineer is expected to function as a semi-autonomous team member with the potential for full delegated responsibility for project and/or task delivery. A senior engineer at Wentworth is responsible for undertaking civil, structural and geotechnical design / checking & method development tasks from client briefs with minimal supervision. They ensure quality compliance with the Wentworth business management system including all policies, procedures and work instructions. -Ensures engineers & technicians allocated to deliver tasks under their supervision are adequately briefed and supported to ensure understanding and successful delivery of the task. The supervising senior engineer retains ownership of the process & final product/design. -Determines and executes project/task resourcing requirements (designers / technicians / checkers / approvers) to ensure delivery on time. -Develops, mentors & assists junior and lessor experienced engineers and technicians. -Identifies when deadlines are not going to be achieved, communicates with stakeholders, and identifies remedial actions. -Develops concept and detailed design approaches using appropriate tools to suit the complexity of the task. -Regularly contacts technicians and junior engineers to ensure that work develops efficiently and in line with projected timescale and budget. -Functions as a semi-autonomous team member with the potential for full delegated principal engineer responsibility for project and/or task delivery. -Provides technical support and guidance to colleagues as required. -Plans own tasks & tasks of others to deliver on time. -Undertakes civil, structural and geotechnical design / checking & method development tasks from client briefs with minimal supervision. -Uses their knowledge, skills and experience to identify and implement practical, cost effective and safe solutions with due diligence, skill and care in accordance with statutory legislation, the suite of Eurocodes and other approved industry body guidance and established best practice. -Promotes Wentworth to internal and external clients.

They use their knowledge, skills and experience to identify and implement practical, cost effective and safe solutions with due diligence, skill and care in accordance with statutory legislation, the suite of Eurocodes and other approved industry body guidance and established best practice. -Has working knowledge of industry standard structural/geotechnical software packages with a good understanding of their limitations as well as capability of producing sketches to scale by hand and/or using CAD. -MEng (Hons) degree in civil, structural or geotechnical engineering. -Typically, a minimum of 5 years relevant post graduate experience. -BEng (Hons) degree in civil, structural, or geotechnical engineering. -MSc degree in civil, structural or geotechnical engineering.
