The Role
Overview
Weld and fit large mechanical parts, grinding and inspecting per specifications.

Tasks
-Follows proper safety rules and procedures at all times. -Participate in process and product development and improvement programs. -Accurately inspect metal prior to welding to ensure clean welds. -Must inspect metal prior to welding for smoothness and acceptability and clean welds to presentable state (grinding operations). -Must work with Fitters on proper assembly of equipment. -Ensure welding machine settings are appropriate for work to be performed. -Keep work area clean and neat. -Clock in on assigned jobs as appropriate. -Must maintain welding machines by keeping them clean and changing liners in the welding guns. -Follows company policies and procedures at all times. -Adhere to all safety rules and perform work at a quality level -Perform grinding operations that comply with Astec’s standards.

What You Bring
-Must be able to safely weld vertical, flat, and overhead with both MiG and stick. -0-1 Year of Welding experience required. -Read and understand assigned blueprints prior to starting a project. -Necessary to be able to do all Grinder tasks. -Knowledge and ability to perform all Grinder tasks required. -Honesty and integrity in all aspects of business -Ability to perform grinding and be able to pass a required welding skills test. -Ability to read and understand weld symbols required. -Must be able to safely use cranes and forklifts. -Ability to properly and safely MiG weld, stick weld, and arc gouging required. -Must be trained in and know PPE requirements for welding including hood and filter shades and arm/body protection. -High School Diploma or GED required. -Must be able to read and understand weld symbols. -Heavy equipment manufacturing experience preferred -Must be able to safely perform gang-welding techniques (dos and don’ts). -Computer experience desired, particularly the ability to use a mouse and locate and open/close programs/files.
