The Role

Overview

Operate and program CNC machinery to produce mass timber components.

Tasks

-Train new employees or current employees on how to operate the CNC machine -Work with Production Manager and Lead Assembly Technician to schedule workflow and ensure delivery schedule commitments and quality standards are met -Order replacement parts as required -Adhere to all OSHA and Swinerton safety practices and procedures -Monitor CNC machine operation and safely intervene in the event of machine malfunction; subsequently investigate and solve any machine malfunction -Process CNC cut files and program machine tooling, be able to edit programs and translate tooling instructions into commands for the computer -Perform tool maintenance, including tool sharpening -Perform visual and dimensional inspection of parts, verify compliance with job specification and tolerances -Report issues with tool, equipment or unsafe conditions -Perform CNC machine repair and replacement of internal parts -Verify that the CNC machine calibration is within tolerance -Help maintain a safe, clean, and healthy work environment -Perform tooling inventory and order additional tools to ensure no delays in manufacturing -Proactively resolve potential issues -Perform daily CNC machine maintenance and performance checks

What You Bring

-Ability to read and comprehend schematic engineering drawings and blueprints -Strong sense of urgency -Forklift certificate -Able to competently perform visual inspection of finished parts -Computer savvy, comfortable operating 3D CAD software -Mechanical aptitude, good math skills, and strong problem-solving ability -Comfortable working in a variety of weather conditions -Good communication skills -Familiarity with power tools, forklift and overhead crane -Overhead crane training and certification -Proven experience as a CNC operator -Ability to program machine tooling and operate precise measuring equipment -Able to interface with DDX software and perform tooling -Rigging training and certification -Read, and understand shop drawings, blueprints, product specifications; process documents -Able to meet physical demands of the job: standing for extended periods, lifting loads up to 50 pounds, squat, bend or kneel while wearing a tool belt
