The Role
Overview
Collect and compute field survey data for construction projects using GPS and survey equipment.

Tasks
-Record survey measurements and descriptive data using notes, drawing, sketches, etc. -Operate survey instruments to capture static measurements for a variety of disciplines with verified horizontal and vertical residuals from client provided benchmarks -Perform calculations to determine accurate elevations, distances, and angles for various construction projects. -Position and hold the vertical rods or targets used for sighting to measure angles, distances, elevations, etc. -Collaborate with engineering and construction teams to integrate survey data into project plans -Apply the use of GPS equipment to set lath for construction, this included center and offsets while having the ability to field fit miscellaneous items -Foster effective communication between surveying teams, engineering teams, and project management -Safely operate field tools and supplies to minimize the risk of injury and property damage -Collaborate with project team to understand construction sequence -Verify horizontal and vertical residuals daily using client provided benchmarks -Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals -Search for section corners, property states and survey point -Maintain and troubleshoot all GPS equipment as directed by Survey Equipment team -Collect field data using sophisticated measuring equipment -Provide regular updates on surveying progress, challenges, and solutions to site and office management -Take reasonable care of your own and others’ health and safety and of those who may be affected by the day-to-day delivery of this role by taking personal responsibility for working toward the Company’s Zero Injury principles -Ensure equipment and tools are clean, properly powered down, and stored at the end of the business day

What You Bring
-Effective verbal and written communication -Ability to problem solve -Ability to work within precise standards of accuracy and follow set procedures and standards -Computer literacy and well-developed file management -Common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form -One year of survey experience in construction or operations with exposure to engineering, civil, or renewable energy activities -Preferred understanding of surveying software e.g. Trimble Business Center, MAGNET Office, or Civil 3D -Work independently and as an active member of the team -Associates or Bachelor’s degree in surveying, remote sensing, drafting, engineering, or related technical field preferred -Preferred comprehension of ALTA Surveys, and various schematics
