The Role
Overview
Lead mechanical design team for HVAC/plumbing projects, overseeing workflow and client deliverables.

Tasks
-Be directly involved with external clients as well as internal project managers, market sector leads, business group managers, and other leaders throughout HDR -Review work of junior staff. -Provide technical expertise in HVAC and Plumbing design across a variety of markets including Healthcare, Education and Science, Water/Wastewater, Municipal, Industrial, and Federal Clients. -Participate in leadership for technical service functions and support the development of HDR services in technical design. -Prepare mechanical proposals including scope development and estimating hours/fee. -Responsible for managing and building a design production team to deliver HVAC and Plumbing work through recruitment, staff development, and training. -Expected to help implement, monitor, and support company policies -Managing workflow and utilization, mentoring and staff development, forecasting and scheduling, quality control, and fostering a team environment -Function as a technical lead on projects, coordinating with other disciplines across HDR, and leading the development of construction drawings, specifications, and supporting engineering calculations, a s well as the review of shop drawings during construction -Prepare design drawings for construction documents.

What You Bring
-Ability to thrive in a team environment. -A minimum of 10 years management experience -Experience directly supervising multiple staff members. -Experience designing water/wastewater facilities and/or experience with lab work, healthcare, and datacenter facilities. -Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related Engineering discipline. -Experience with Revit -15 years of experience in mechanical design. -Excellent planning skills -PE license -Master's degree with a focus in Mechanical Engineering. -Some regional/national travel will be expected. -Minimum of 10 years of experience in mechanical/HVAC design of buildings and facilities -Technical knowledge of mechanical systems design. -Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm. -Ability to manage, lead and mentor other team members.
