Tasks

Design and prepare plans, calculations, and specifications for transportation structures, including highway bridges, retaining walls, box culverts, and other miscellaneous structures per AASHTO and ODOT requirements. -Mentor direct reports and other engineers. -Considers the needs of diverse project stakeholders. -Provide leadership and technical guidance to the project team to ensure quality technical services. -Selects appropriate principles of engineering economics, and probability and statistics to analyze risk in a complex engineering problem. -Assists with proposals to provide professional services or obtain funding for engineering projects or projects. -Receives supervision and guidance relating to overall objectives, critical issues, new concepts, and policy matters. -Participate in occasional site visits in construction sites and remote outdoor work environments. -Prepares scopes, budgets, and schedules for assignments. -Receives direction on unusual conditions and developments. -Occasional travel to client meetings and site visits with possible overnight stays. -Prepare engineering cost estimates, the scope of work documents, and proposals and assist other Project/Task Managers with similar duties. -Collaborate with other professionals from various departments and disciplines and discuss requirements with clients to execute projects. -Independently evaluates, selects, and adapts standard techniques, procedures, and criteria. -Provide analysis and load rating for existing structures and recommend improvement and strengthening strategies through knowledge and application of appropriate specifications, standards, and design criteria, -Monitor and enforce compliance with quality control standards and client requirements. -Leads tasks and projects of moderately complex scopes. -Develops plans, specifications, and other project documents. -Perform work as part of a team or as a task/project manager, in accordance with the project budget and schedule limitations under moderate supervision. -Leads project meetings and represents the organization in communications pertaining to broad aspects of engineering assignments. -Design and prepare plans, calculations, and specifications for transportation structures, including highway bridges, retaining walls, box culverts, and other miscellaneous structures per AASHTO and ODOT requirements. -Assigns tasks to other technical and non-technical staff. Predominantly plans and coordinates detailed aspects of the engineering work. -Analyzes and selects principles of formal communication, effective teamwork, and various pathways to developing leadership.

What You Bring

Driver's License Experience Required Bachelors or better in Engineering or related field. Communication Skills GAI Consultants, Inc is seeking an experienced Engineer 3 to lead our growing Bridge Engineering Group within our Ohio Transportation Business Unit. GAI has a growing contract backlog with ODOT, OTIC, and local governments and is expanding our Ohio presence. In addition to providing management and technical leadership to our Ohio bridge projects, this position requires client interaction and business development strategy for specific project opportunities. The successful candidate should also anticipate interaction and involvement with other regional projects in Indiana, West Virginia, and Pennsylvania. Remote and/or hybrid work (home or office) schedules are viable options, and the successful candidate will be eligible for a sign-on bonus. -Demonstrates professional attitudes relevant to the practice of engineering, including creativity, curiosity, flexibility, and dependability. -Applies broad knowledge of principles and practices in a specific practice area. -Possesses advanced oral and written communication skills, including interpretation of complex technical and contractual language. -Professional Engineer (P.E.) License, reciprocity in multiple states. -B.S. or M.S. Engineering -8+ years
