Overview

Operate horizontal directional drills, manage drilling tasks and support crew

Tasks

-Manage inventory and supplies. -Conduct pre-trip/walk-around safety inspection. -Working as a member of the team by assisting other members when required. -Provide technical support to clients and crew members as required. -Maintain excellent communication between members of the team and clients. -Ensure all reporting requirements are fulfilled and communicated daily to the foreman or coordinator. -Adhering to site and Aecon specific policies and regulations. -Ensure you and your family receive the services needed to support your mental, emotional, and physical well-being. -Coordinate machine actions with other activities, positioning or moving of loads and conduct in response for hand or audio signals from team members. -Complete client’s site specific training as required. -Work with commitment to timelines and deadlines on a daily basis. -Keep abreast of all directional drilling techniques and all surveying methods.

What You Bring

-Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with managers, peers, and clients. -Experience running a Vermeer or Ditch Witch HDD drills -Familiar with Digitrak Locating Equipment (F5, F5 Falcon) an asset. -Horizontal directional drilling experience or training. -Understand an analyze locate marks, stakes and property markers. -Ability to train, coach, and mentor new hires. -Able to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions. -Ability to work with minimal supervision as directed by the site foreman -Valid state drivers– heavy truck and trailer License Preferred. -Thorough knowledge of state-of-the-art drilling and surveying technologies and practices. -Ability to operate Horizontal Directional Drill and/or locating equipment independently and safely.
