Tasks

-Provide design input and advice based on experience and knowledge of industry best practices. -Apply ‘safety by design’ and ‘human factor principles’ when supporting design activities -Perform work safely and effectively. Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies. -Support in the development of the engineering team by building internal tools and processes. -Occasional travel to client site for walk downs and recording as built conditions -Mentor and lead junior designers or drafters in their technical development -Support the electrical systems design for nuclear projects in coordination with the existing Kiewit design teams as needed (structural, mechanical, piping etc.) -Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines. Work overtime and weekends as required. -Support in the preparation and coordination of electrical design packages -Lead the preparation of electrical design deliverables, including drawings, lists and schedules in coordination with electrical engineers. -Cable sizing calculations and cable schedules

What You Bring

-Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment -Proficiency in 2D CAD software such as AutoCAD for drawing preparation. -Familiarity with CSA Nuclear codes and standards -Strong communication and organizational skills. -Work productively and meet deadlines timely -3-8 years of relevant experience in the design of electrical systems with experience in nuclear considered an asset. The ideal candidate will have experience in the design of: -Registered Electrical Technologist or equivalent preferred. -Proficiency with 3D CAD software such as Revit. -Control schematics -Proficiency with the preparation and review process of design deliverables. -Building security, fire detection and telecommunication systems (working knowledge considered an asset). -Proficiency in the preparation of: -Process and Instrumentation (considered an asset). -Regular, reliable attendance -Familiarity with clients’ Engineering Change Control (ECC) process -Efficient and proactive with the ability to work independently and prioritize. -Familiarity with the design-build design process, construction/constructability, and typical testing practices. -Embedded grounding, cable tray systems and duct banks.
