The Role

Overview

Design, implement, and optimize hybrid cloud and on-premises system architectures.

Tasks

-Conduct performance analysis to identify bottlenecks and optimize system efficiency. -Occasional lifting of equipment (up to 25 lbs) for hardware setup or maintenance. -Assist IT Applications with design and deployment of systems to support business units utilizing SaaS applications. -Interacts with external vendors and service providers for cloud and hardware solutions. -Assist IT Cybersecurity with design and compliance of systems to meet cybersecurity frameworks and policies. -Design and implement scalable system architectures tailored to business needs. -Design, deploy, and maintain Microsoft Intune and SCCM environments for device management, patching, and software deployment. -Monitor system performance and implement proactive maintenance strategies. -Provides technical guidance to junior engineers and support staff. -Integrate cloud-based and on-premises systems for seamless hybrid operations. -Assist Systems Administrators with administering and supporting on-premises server infrastructure, including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy. -Deploy and maintain Azure services such as VMs, Entra ID, Storage, Networking, and Security Center. -Document system configurations, procedures, and best practices. -Collaborates with software developers, network engineers, and IT operations teams. -Develop and maintain automation scripts for provisioning and configuration. -Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure system reliability and performance. -Implement and monitor cloud security protocols, compliance standards, and backup/recovery strategies. -Troubleshoot and resolve system performance issues across cloud and on-premises environments. -Perform complex troubleshooting to resolve system issues and support upgrades.

What You Bring

-Cloud platforms: Azure, AWS. -Familiarity with virtualization (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) and container technologies. -Able to effectively communicate and collaborate with others. -Primarily office-based with prolonged periods of sitting and computer use. -Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools. -Exposure to cybersecurity best practices in system design. -Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects and deadlines. -May require travel to data centers or client sites (less than 10% of time). -Experience with VMware products, Microsoft 365 Services, Microsoft SCCM, Microsoft Intune -Ability to work on-call or during non-standard hours for system maintenance. -Preferred: AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Azure Administrator, or equivalent. -System design tools: Visio or similar. -Scripting: Python, Bash, PowerShell. -Experience with hybrid cloud architectures. -Prior work on system performance optimization and capacity planning. -Years of Experience: Three years of experience in systems engineering or similar role. -Optional: ITIL Foundation or CompTIA certifications. -Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering or related field from an accredited college or university recognized by the United States Department of Education or equivalent. -Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
