The Role
Overview
Oversee hotel engineering team, maintenance, safety, and repairs.

Tasks
-Exercise safety precautions when working on equipment (use of safety signs, etc.). -Ensures final inspection of all engineeringrelated work and execution of all work orders. -Performs engineering staff functions whenever necessary. -Schedule and perform work in accordance with preventive maintenance program in rooms, coordinating with the Rooms Division Department. -Carries out supervisory responsibilities that may include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. -Perform emergency equipment and machinery repair as needed. -Ensures all safety equipment is in compliance and working order with federal quarterly/annual inspections to city, state and codes. Maintain knowledge of hotel safety procedures and ensure application of such. -Maintain the proper use, cleaning, maintenance, and storage of all tools. -Delegate daily work assignments and review priorities and special projects. -Handle chemicals for designated uses/surfaces, according to hotel requirements.

What You Bring
-Ability to troubleshoot and use alternatives in emergency situations. -Bilingual English/Spanish a plus. -Working knowledge of repair and maintenance regarding health codes; plumbing codes; plant equipment; electrical codes; architectural codes; structural codes; blueprints and wiring/plumbing schematics; building code improvement; mechanical and electrical/safety systems construction; national/local fire codes; proper chemical handling and disposal; power and hand tools, meters, etc. as it relates to the technical trades; local mechanical codes; OSHA codes and best practices. -Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. -Valid driver’s license and clean driving record. -Minimum two years’ experience as a hotel maintenance engineer. -Ability to enforce hotel's standards, policies and procedures with staff. -Basic working knowledge of building maintenance, electrical, plumbing and refrigeration equipment. -Ability to interpret manufacturer’s literature for installation, preparation, use and upkeep of various materials and products used throughout the property. -High school graduate or equivalent; college degree or vocational training a plus. -Ability to handle potentially hazardous chemicals. -Be available to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and varied shifts, as required to meet the needs of the Company’s business operations. -Any building trade license/certificate from the state of hotel’s operation preferred. -Ability to perform assigned duties with attention to detail, speed, accuracy, follow-through, courtesy, cooperativeness and work with a minimum of supervision. -Ability to endure abundant physical movements in carrying out job duties. -Ability to maintain confidentiality of hotel guests and pertinent hotel information. -Ability to satisfactorily communicate with guests, management, and co-workers to their understanding.
