Tasks
Leverage your industry expertise and join our expanding team in this Large Account Underwriting Specialist role. We are seeking candidates who reside in our footprint: North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Tennessee, Maryland, Florida, Mississippi, or Georgia area. The Large Account Underwriting Specialist will develop, grow, and manage a profitable, diversified book of construction business, targeting large contractors. -Direct and monitor underwriting activities in the area of large account analysis including large account modeling. Documenting files to reflect individual account approach, thought process and decision making through comprehensive account reviews. Manage individual authority. -Determine, coordinate, and direct account management activities with various departments. -Mentors and guides less experienced underwriters and assists in the development of underwriting training. -Makes recommendations on underwriting policy and pricing strategy -Develops and maintains agency/and or broker relationships with large producers through high level of responsive service, office/site visits, in person and virtual meetings. Assists agents/brokers on pipeline management strategies. -Keeps current on state/territory issues and regulations, industry activity and trends. May participate in industry trade groups. -Develop and maintain client relationships and coordinate service team efforts. Has the ability to anticipate problems and creatively propose solutions to those issues. -Works on highly complex underwriting risks with an entrepreneur mindset. Identifying areas of opportunity for improved growth, profit, rate, retention, diversification, and execution marketing plans.

What You Bring
-Bachelor’s degree with 5-7 years of commercial lines underwriting experience. -Advanced level knowledge of insurance products/coverage, market segments and marketplace Insurance finance and actuarial concepts including loss trending and development. -Ability to deal with ambiguous situations and issues -Ability to apply underwriting/appetite, tools, systems, and resources to achieve goals, solve complex problems, establish, and build healthy working relationships, lead mentoring relationships, and negotiate, as normally acquired. -Advanced-level knowledge of underwriting, pricing, risk selection, territory management
