Substation Designer (CADD)

Overview

Design and develop electrical substation drawings and analysis using CADD tools.

Tasks

-Perform calculations, reports and designs for electrical substations (Low, Medium and High Voltage) and substation systems to support engineers. -Prepare engineering drawings, including One Line Diagrams, General Arrangements Sections, Grounding & Conduit Plans, Foundation Plans, Material Lists (BOM), Relay and Control Systems Schematics and Wiring Diagrams. -Communicate with Project Managers, Project Engineers, and client personnel. -Work independently to perform substation design tasks, CADD design, develop design drawings and documents, modeling and/or analysis, prepare material lists, perform field reviews, and other tasks for moderately complex to highly complex projects.

What You Bring

-5+ years of experience developing CADD layouts/designs from engineering designs. -Knowledge of industry standards and practices, along with discipline codes and specifications -Based upon experience, can perform most designs responsibilities without assistance on moderately complex projects, and may work independently, but with some engineering guidance on complex projects. -Ability to be a lead technician, train junior designers, and work closely with engineering staff. -Proficiency using Microsoft Office -Technical degree or a combination of education and related industry experience -Advanced skillset of 3D Coordination tool -Strong attention to detail, communication, and organizational skills. -Excellent communication skills, attention to detail and organizational traits are essential -Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm preferred. -Understand client standards and complete small to moderately complex projects, exercising judgement in design criteria, evaluation, and design, subject to review by engineers., -Proficiency using AutoCAD and MicroStation -Advanced understanding of engineering or architectural concepts -Advanced skillset of 3D design software and document management infrastructure -Associates or technical school degree or combination of education and relevant experience. -Experience in both the Protection and Control (Indoor) and Physical (Outdoor) aspects of High Voltage (HV) Substation design. -Competency of Microsoft Office products and communication tools -A minimum of 5 years related industry experience
