The Role
Overview
Design and manage geotechnical investigations and analyses for transportation projects.

Tasks
-Coordinate field investigations and laboratory testing. -Perform geotechnical engineering to support design recommendations for bridge foundations, retaining walls, and earthen embankments for roadways, railroads, dams and levees. -Review and edit the geotechnical aspects of plans and specifications. -Perform geotechnical engineering analyses for the vertical and lateral capacity of deep foundations; slope stability and settlement analyses for roadway and railway embankments; slope stability, settlement and seepage analysis for dams and levees; and subgrade evaluations for roadways and track beds for railroads. -Prepare geotechnical engineering reports and memos. -Technical and budget management of the geotechnical tasks. -Complete site reconnaissance for the planning of geotechnical investigations. -Prepare geotechnical elements and coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams for Section 408 submittals. -Periodically observe the construction of earthwork for roadways, dams and levees; installation of driven piles and drilled shafts.

What You Bring
-Experience with GeoStudio/Ensoft slope stability, settlement, seepage and deep foundation response software, as appropriate -Bachelor's degree -The candidate should be capable of working independently and efficiently under the general supervision of senior-level Geotechnical Engineers. -Requires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered. Example: Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license. -Experience with local geology (Nebraska/Iowa). -Previous experience with Microsoft Office applications, MicroStation or other software as appropriate -Experience with Iowa transportation projects. -Experience with Bentley suite of geotechnical data management and visualization software (gINT/OpenGround/LeapFrog) -Project management experience. -MSCE or ongoing coursework toward an MSCE.
