Tasks

-Participate on project teams that execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned individual and team projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements. -Coordinate with other engineering disciplines, Project Managers and Design Phase Managers to successfully deliver design projects. -Responsible for handling multiple projects and providing a detailed design package that complies with applicable engineering design standards and all safety codes. -Develops and evaluates the technical requirements for fabrication and construction tender packages. -Technical review, approve, and selection of equipment vendor quotes on major equipment from manufacturers with Design Phase Manager / Lead Engineers review. -Mentor, guide and manage other Engineering Professionals. -Begins performing lead technical designer tasks on 2 - 3 large design projects annually across all project scopes. -Collects and evaluates data to recommend courses of action. -Developing technical specifications, providing direction and guidance to drafters and designers, directing the flow of drafting and designer duties, insuring design schedules are met, including regularly providing project status updates to project engineer. -Creates detailed designs aligned with our customer requirements and Mortenson’s best practice standards -Plans and conducts work requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, and adaptation or modification of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria. -Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and Mortenson QA/QC procedures -Review of engineering work produces a first-time review rate of documents at 80% correct. -Provide technical support to personnel/cross functional teams for proposals, estimating, procurement and construction. -Verify that construction is in agreement with civil and protection engineering design drawings, including preparatory meetings, and QA/QC. -Performs data analysis and engineering tasks, calculations, and studies to develop preliminary and detailed designs for completion of large and small projects.

What You Bring

-Minimum seven years related experience -FE is required, Professional Engineering (PE) license is preferred -Microsoft Excel experience to track and analyze different components and combinations. -Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related Engineering program -Comfortable interfacing and presenting to multiple stakeholders (e.g. customer decision makers, project teams, etc.). -Excellent written and oral communication skills -Have working knowledge of or are familiar with software packages: CYMCAP, CDEGS, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, etc. -Our postings are typically open a minimum of 5 days and an average of 44 days. -Experience in the T&D industry, preference is given, and preferred, for design experience in the Energy Storage, Solar, Wind industry. -Understand and be able to apply the equation S=P+jQ. -Have working knowledge of or are familiar with: Project Controls software (i.e. Procore / Unifier). -Visa sponsorship is not offered for this position. -Acquired knowledge in system integration, product adaptation, and design development for systems. -Understanding of discipline specific technical designs, QA/QC procedures, and engineering policies. -Advanced knowledge of engineering principles, business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements. -Must be currently legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status, 0-1, TN, CPT, OPT, etc.). We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time. -Ability to travel up to 30%. -Requires work experience acquired with an electrical background or acquired industry knowledge from time in the electrical business or electrician / construction. Preference given for knowledge focused on power inverters and/or DC batteries / solutions. -Design optimization skills that involve technical parameters but considering economic feedback for decisions. -Strong understanding of discipline specific technical designs, QA/QC procedures, and engineering policies.
