Tasks
-Learn and follow surveying methods and standards as required by state and public agencies. -Perform simple surveying calculations using engineering calculator, laptop computer, and coordinate geometry software. -Prepares accurate field notes, drawings and records change in conditions while in the field. -Understand and follow company employee handbook and mandated safety policies. -This position may lead to a more prominent role as a Survey Crew Chief which will include becoming responsible for other survey personnel on a project and reporting to project managers and engineers. -May be required to clear vegetation, dig holes, occasionally shovel snow and pound stakes with hand tools. -Work with a Survey Crew Chief or Land Surveyor while performing land surveying services including plane and/or geodetic surveys for construction, topographic, right-of-way, and control survey projects. -May be required to assist with construction observation duties on civil engineering projects. -Perform responsibilities in a conscientious, legal and ethical manner with a strong attention to detail. -Participates in pre-survey planning meetings with project managers and engineers on a consistent basis by providing updates and progress during all phases of projects. -Gathers field survey data through the use of conventional surveying and GPS methods. -Effectively communicate with contractors, engineering staff and project owner representatives in the field.

What You Bring
They are seeking a Professional Land Surveyor to support land surveying services across a variety of civil engineering projects. This role offers hands-on field experience and the opportunity to mentor Survey Crew Chief positions. -Experience with CADD programs such as AutoCAD/Civil-3D or Microstation/GeoPak software is considered a plus. -Will require prolonged periods of standing and walking to perform some of the typical tasks and duties associated with topographic and construction surveying. -High School diploma or equivalent is required. -Capable or familiar with operating GPS, robotic and total station survey equipment. -Familiar with survey data collection and construction survey methods. -Knowledge of Microsoft Windows/Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint) required. -Required to work in an outdoor environment including construction sites and close proximity to traffic, noise and dust. -A valid driver's license is required or the ability to obtain one. -This position will require the initiative to think independently and make rational judgment calls. -May be asked to secure their UAS Part 107 License to operate a drone / UAS aircraft. -Must be able to work independently and in a team environment. -1 or more years of experience performing topographic and highway/roadway construction staking. -Must be willing to interact with people and work in team environments. -Ability to operate a computer under normal ergonomic office conditions. -Travel and out of town stays will be required; may work overtime especially during the construction season. -Must be detail orientated, self-motivated with strong interpersonal and organizational skills. -A 2-year Associates Degree in Engineering Technology or Land Surveying is highly desirable (applicable experience may be acceptable in lieu of an Associate's Degree). -Ability to lift equipment or objects weighing 50 to 75 pounds. -Candidate should expect to achieve their Certified Survey Technician ( CST) Level I and II Field Track.
