
Maintenance Forklift Mechanic - Night Shift

Overview
Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on forklifts during night shift.

Tasks
-Complete test and maintenance reports. -Reassemble forklifts and make all necessary adjustments for effective and safe operation. -Perform routine, emergency, and preventative maintenance of forklifts. -Troubleshoot forklift problems to include brake, electrical and hydraulic systems, detect imperfections, potential problems, safety issues and/or malfunctions. -Learn new technical information and techniques to stay current with changing technology. -Repairs and maintains various types of forklift trucks including electric, gas-powered, and propane powered. -Maintain an organized and neat work area. -Perform safety inspection of forklifts prior to being released back to the work floor. -Tests forklift trucks to ensure repairs are completed correctly. -Replace broken or defective parts from stock parts and/or order replacement parts for major repairs. -Cleaning of equipment and other areas as required. -Interpret manufacturer's technical manuals to perform the necessary maintenance and repairs needed. -Schedules and performs routine maintenance for forklift trucks. Ensures batteries for electric forklift trucks are fully charged. -Ensure the work area and methods used in carrying out job duties meet safety requirements.

What You Bring
-Ability to work in a non-air-conditioned environment. -Regularly required to sit or stand, bend and reach. -Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and night shift if necessary. -Competent to complete legible service documents and logs for preventative maintenance tasks. -Good communication skills. -Two or more years of experience in a related field, including maintenance of various lift trucks such as Hyster, Kalmar and Yale with lift ratings up to 16,000 lbs. and 60,000 lbs. -Have working under OSHA regulations. -Steel-toe boots required in Manufacturing Facility. -Able to work safely and follow company rules and procedures. -The use of Safety Glasses is required. -Manufacturing, automotive, military, or recent trade school graduates with applied skills. -Able to diagnose and repair mast and attachment components. -Good working knowledge of brake systems and tire/wheel changes. -Must possess the ability to be focused on observing proper operating procedures and safety practices. -Ability to stand up to 10 hours a day (with a lunch in between) and up to 6 days a week. -Physical effort equal to frequent moving of up to 50lbs materials. -Ability to function with little supervision. -High school diploma or equivalent. -Must be familiar with OSHA regulations regarding the operation of a forklift, and all other equipment. -Have analytical and problem-solving skills. -The use of earplugs is recommended; and required at some areas. -Able to function well as a team member. -Ability to work on LP, gas, and diesel systems.
