The Role

Overview

Lead multi‑project electrical engineering and business development for Alberta oil‑gas projects.

Tasks

-Identify any slippages to schedule or budget and make changes accordingly to solve complex issues. -Partner with stakeholders in proposal writing, marketing presentations, and organization of internal resources for assigned prospects. -Ensure strict adherence to ethics and compliance requirements at all times. -Travel to field for project scoping, verification, construction support, and meeting with clients. -Provide drafters with modifications to technical drawings and work plans according to engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria for design team. -Attend and host team/project meetings and client meetings. -Champion and develop specific deliverables such as work scopes, project design criteria, design basis documents, technical documents, cost estimates, schedules and other project related documents. -Execute electrical engineering activities with the objective of meeting the defined contractual scope to the relevant codes, standards, and company procedures. -Assist in the creation of other project documents such as Requests for Information, Purchase Recommendations, and P&IDs. -Review and ensure required corrections are completed by designers and meets project standards. -Develop new sales leads through cold calling, market research, etc. -Lead all client communication with respect to assigned projects and assigned clients; lead and provide guidance to members of the engineering team, including designers/draftspersons, engineers, and technicians. -Develop project design criteria, design basis, and electrical specifications. -Assist in the development of / enhancements to Kleinfelder Canada’s business develop strategy; research and assist in determination of qualified target areas, projects, and clients. -Analyze technical issues within the electrical engineering discipline, aided and supported by the other specialist disciplines. -Support operational sales team (Client Account Managers, etc.) -Assist in the development of work practices and procedures. -Develop/track/maintain lists of opportunities in local region. -Perform detailed reviews of project electrical design specifications, design drawings, and standard detail drawings. -Perform calculations including load studies, lighting levels, hazardous area classifications, junction box, distribution panel, and cable sizing. -Develop work plans and execution of strategies given schedule, budget, and scope constraints. -Mentor and supervise junior team members. -Lead and support the project and process engineering efforts to execute assigned small to medium sized projects with varying in scope and complexity; plan project resources to ensure efficient and cost effective execution adhering to budget and schedule constraints. -Present to clients, etc. will be required. -Perform detailed reviews of project process design specifications, design drawings, and standard detail drawings. -Assist in creating work document packages during closeout of projects. -Coordinate with business development / operations group on proposals and presentations. -Report to the Electrical Engineering Manager on progress of work and ensure coordination between the engineering and design team. -Develop specific electrical systems, equipment, skid and module packages design criteria, sizing, and specifications. -Support the business development of Kleinfelder and liaise any possible opportunities. -Stamp and issue drawings.

What You Bring

-Registered as P. Eng/P.L. Eng with APEGA or PTech with ASET -Strong ability to solve problems. -Recent experience in executing multi-projects and multi-disciplined small to medium size projects. -Strategic thinker. -Strong organizational and time management skills. -Must display initiative, leadership, and independent thinking in a team environment. -Familiar with relevant electrical codes (CSA, IEEE, API, ANSI, CEC). -Minimum of 10 years of experience in electrical engineering field. -Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills. -Exceptional presentation, communication and written skills. -Working knowledge of CAD design software and standards would be an asset. -Familiar with the development of P&IDs, DBM’s, single line diagrams, and other key design documents. -Job is performed in an office environment and travel to client offices within Kleinfelder Canada’s region will be required. -Minimum of 7 years of progressive professional project management, project engineering or discipline engineering in the oil and gas or related industry. -Proficiency in MS Office Suite programs used to create reports and documents. -Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering discipline or equivalent.
