The Role

Overview

Perform TIG welding of stainless steel, read plans, secure pipes, maintain safety and quality.

Tasks

-Maintains the work area in a clean orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations (should support implementation of 6S). Maintains required personal tools, and properly uses all Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) and safety equipment. -Selects type and size of pipe and related materials according to job specifications, knowledge of system operation, and study of building plans / working drawings. Meets and maintains quality and production standards for all work product. -Sets up equipment and weld parts using arc, submerged arc, gas-shielded arc, mig and tig machines. -Secures pipes to structure with clamps, brackets, and hangers, using hand tools. -Ensures proper recording of time spent on individual work orders is accurate. Keeps the foreman and other key project personnel aware of all issues affecting production, schedule and cost. Detects and reports defective materials or questionable conditions to the foreman. Notifies supervisor of equipment malfunction, and performs operator based maintenance as required.

What You Bring

High School Diploma or GED. Detail oriented with good organization skills and proven ability to initiate priorities based on general guidelines. Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings. 4+ years of experience as a Journeyman Welder preferred Experience in using electrical or manual tools. Must be certified to weld using material types such as black iron, stainless and aluminum (Level II). Experience using a variety of welding equipment and procedures. Knowledge of relative safety standards.
