The Role

Overview

Conduct HVDC control and protection studies, model simulations, and support projects.

Tasks

-Continuous improvement and standardization of simulation models, study procedures and methods, processes in project execution as well as documentation of results -Dynamic performance studies within tender and project execution of HVDC projects; Optimizing the dynamic behavior of the HVDC converter (e.g., black-start and network restoration, grid forming controls, multi-terminal systems) according to customer and national grid code requirements -Analyzing sub-synchronous torsional/control interactions and the harmonic converter impedance, as well as potential interactions between the HVDC converter and other controlled devices in the power system -Developing and validating simulation models for diverse EMT simulation tools (e.g., PSCAD/EMTDC, Matlab/Simulink, EMTP-RV) -Supporting the project management in technical discussions, participating in customer meetings, and coordinating external partners

What You Bring

-Customer training in simulation models and presentation of study results to customer -Expertise in control engineering and modeling of HVDC systems in the time domain and frequency domain. -Professional user of typical power system simulation programs (e.g., PSCAD/EMTDC, Matlab/Simulink, EMTP-RV). -University degree or equivalent experience in electrical power engineering or control engineering in combination with PhD degree and experience in power engineering industry. -1 or more years of experience. Candidates with more experience can be considered for a higher level or vice-versa. -Good knowledge in high voltage applications, power transmission systems, power electronics and HVDC technology.
