Install and maintain underground pipe for storm sewers, gas, and water mains.

Tasks

-Assists in lifting, positioning and securing of materials and work pieces. -Positioning, cutting and connecting pipe -Maintaining depth by checking the laser beam or grade stakes and communicating with the operator -Clean tools, equipment, material in work area -Perform minor maintenance and cleaning activities with tools and equipment. -Lift, carry and hold construction materials, tools and supplies -Operates manual material handling equipment such as hand jacks and wheeled carts -Digging, spreading and leveling dirt, sand and gravel using a pick shovel or rake -Communicating with the operator about the alignment of the pipe by using hand signals to ensure the proper depth -Cementing around pipes and inlets -Installs, removes, and maintains a variety of erosion control products. -Can take and apply direction from supervisor -Inspecting the pipe fittings to ensure it is defect free and clean -Perform a variety of machine tasks such as tamping soil, jackhammering and assisting in the connecting of pipe.

What You Bring

-Regularly exposed to outside weather conditions. -Exposure to moving mechanical parts. -At least 3 years of sitework experience laying pipe in a construction setting -Able to work well in a team environment -Must be able to traverse irregular and steep terrain. -Workers must have reliable transportation, or be able to access jobsites in any location -Workers must provide their own safety footwear -Must be able to respond quickly to sounds. -Ability to wear and work in personnel protective equipment including but not limited to hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, ankle-supporting safety-toed work boots and a safety vest. -Applicant must be able to pass drug test and background check. -Work harmoniously, co-operatively and courteously with others at all times -Must be able to bend, stoop, and ascend/descend to reach materials or enter heavy equipment. -The ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. -Extensive moving or positioning heavy weighted materials (up to 50 lbs.).
