Tasks
-Conduct special studies to develop and establish standard hour and related cost data or to effect cost reduction -Establishing the likely progress and completion rates, including allowances for bad weather and other unforeseen circumstances -Consult with vendors, personnel in other departments or construction superintendent/engineers to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues -Work outdoors in all weather conditions. -Confer with engineers, architects, owners, contractors and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates -Assume additional responsibilities as directed by division and corporate management. Travel as required to attend, but not limited to, meetings, site visits, training, etc. -Prepare cost and expenditure statements and other necessary documentation at regular intervals for the duration of the project -Set up cost monitoring and reporting systems and procedures -Review material and labor requirements to decide whether it is more cost-effective to produce or purchase components -Assess cost effectiveness of products, projects or services, tracking actual costs relative to bids as the project develops -Working with estimating team to help predict the timescales of a project, which has a considerable bearing on costs -Prepare estimates for use in selecting vendors or subcontractors -Calculating a final figure for the estimated cost, supplemented by adjustments for overheads and profit, and presenting a tender price -Analyze plan documents and other data to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates -Prepare estimates used by management for purposes such as planning, organizing, and scheduling work

What You Bring
-Ability to speak, write, and understand English clearly. -Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology -Ability to lift, on a frequent basis, at least 50 pounds. -Attention to detail -Problem solving skills -Effective written and verbal communication skills -Occasionally requited to stoop, bend, walk, crouch, and climb. -5+ years underground estimating experience required -Excellent interpersonal skills -Ability to analyze data -Ability to maintain confidentiality -Organizational skills -Travel will be required to attend training and meetings. -Time management skills -Ability to sit or stand for entire shift -Bachelor’s degree in Engineering discipline is required, -Decision making skills -Effective listening skills
