The Role

Overview

Assist in operation, maintenance, and testing of substation equipment while training as an apprentice.

Tasks

-Learn safety, techniques and skills of the trade from foremen. -Completes all work assigned by foremen or supervisors. -Assists in the operation and maintenance of AMI Communication Network. -Assists in the installation and maintenance of SCADA system. -Assist with operation and maintenance of substations. -Assists with the testing of substation equipment including high voltage work in and around the substations. -Repairs and tests distribution transformers. -Services and repairs regulator and capacitor banks and equipment involved.

What You Bring

-Must complete ongoing training assignments, advance in skill level and attain Journeyman Substation Technician status through TVPPA's apprenticeship program. Failure to attain Journeyman status will be ground for dismissal. -Will be subject to on-call and emergency after-hours availability. -Warren County residency is required within six (6) months of employment. -Ability to work during inclement weather. Some work after hours will be required. -One (1) year of experience within the electrical field (installation, construction, or engineering). -Ability to learn basis electrical theory, familiarity with basis hand tools and the ability to learn to read and understand engineering drawings. -Graduate of a certified lineman training school. -CDL (Class A) is required within six (6) months of employment. -High school diploma or graduate equivalency. -CDL (Class A) -Knowledge of company policies, safety rules, and state/local laws pertaining to operation of vehicles and equipment.
