FORKLIFT OPERATOR

Overview

Operate a forklift safely on rough terrain, load/unload, stack materials, assist steel shop.

Tasks

-Move levers, shift gears, depress the pedal, and maneuver the steering wheel to operate the equipment. -Assists in the steel shop with other duties such as palletizing materials, loading and unloading trucks, painting, organizing materials, and other assignments as requested or required by supervisor. -Operate the Forklift in a safe and appropriate manner on rough terrain. -Perform safety inspections on forklifts. -Position forks, lifting platforms, or other lifting devices under, over, or around loaded pallets, boxes, or other materials. -Unload and stack material by raising and lowering the lifting device.

What You Bring

-High school diploma or equivalent but not required. -Forklift Certificate preferred but not required. -Moderate to high exposure to production environment. -Moderate to high risk of safety precautions. -Moderate to high risk of exposure to unusual elements. -The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. -Wet, hot, humid, and wintry conditions (weather related) (plant specific) -While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, twist, and walk, must be able to use various hand tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance on elevated surfaces; and stoop, kneel, squat, crouch or crawl. -Ability to work outside year-round (plant specific) -Constant and continual medium to heavy manual, physical labor is required for this position. -Experience operating a forklift in a construction setting preferred.
