The Role

Overview

Estimate project costs, manage takeoffs, and support preconstruction in Edmonton

Tasks

-Understand client’s requirements and incorporate requirements into costing. -Process, handle, and distribute various documents, drawings, and Tender Packages as required by the team. -Identify building materials and design alternatives for cost reduction or time savings. -Provide guidance and mentorship to junior estimators. -Identify bonding and insurance requirements. -Support change order processes by preparing revised estimates and documenting cost impacts. -Take part in Project Team meetings. -Consult with clients, architects, engineers, and project managers to clarify requirements and resolve estimate-related issues. -Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, leveraging Lean principles. -Attend training courses as required by Manager. -Conduct risk assessments and value engineering exercises to optimize project cost and performance. -Adhere to Clark Builders’ policies and procedures. -Develop Subcontractor work scopes for tendering. -Tender call and review of Subcontractor/ Supplier quotes and awards -Participate in Clark Builders University (CBU) initiatives and Career Progression plan to further personal growth and knowledge base. -Utilize databases to maintain up-to-date cost data and scope assignments. -Conduct site visits as required to gather data and verify conditions. -Prepare accurate and complete estimates. -Lead or assist in tender closings. -Manage deadlines for completion of assigned tasks. -Maintain unit price and productivity knowledge and database. -Maintain Subcontractor/Supplier relations through networking, attending construction association events, etc.

What You Bring

-Ability to perform accurate quantity takeoffs (Autodesk Takeoff). -Negotiation skills for engaging with clients, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers. -Expert knowledge of Estimating software (InEight) and be ability to operate and understand the information attained. -Ability to conduct risk assessments and participate in value engineering. -Adapt to changing job requirements and direction from multiple sources. -Financial acumen to assess budgets, cash flow, and profitability. -Attention to detail in reviewing plans, specifications, and calculations. -Working knowledge of major trade packages, building codes, and industry standards. -5-year Estimating experience -Experience with continuous improvement -Ability to work with and lead in a team environment. -6 months to 2 years operations experience -Post Secondary Construction education (P. Eng. / CET, or equivalent) -Comfortable working in a team environment -Communicate professionally through verbal and written methods. -Exposure or understanding of principles of Lean thinking. -Ability to visualize end products with minimal project information. -Ability to manage multiple workflows and tasks concurrently. -Knowledge of scheduling software (MS Project, P6) and ability to build accurate schedules -Proficiency in digital platforms, cost databases, and collaborative tools.
