The Role
Overview
Perform field and lab testing of construction materials, ensuring compliance and safety.

Tasks
-Participate in training and certification programs to expand technical skills and maintain compliance. -Prepare accurate, detailed reports and logs of test results, site conditions, and observations for timely submission to project managers and stakeholders. -Communicate effectively with supervisors, contractors, and project managers, providing real-time updates on job status and site conditions. -Support project schedules by arriving on time, meeting deadlines, and adapting to changing requirements, conditions, and weather. -Maintain and operate testing equipment and assigned company vehicle in proper working order. -Collect, label, and transport samples to the lab, following proper protocols. -Follow strict safety protocols and OSHA regulations, including proper PPE use. -Perform field and lab testing on soil, concrete, asphalt, aggregate, and other materials to ensure compliance with project specs and industry standards.

What You Bring
-Effective written and verbal communication skills. -Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time as well as drive long distances -Ability to speak and hear effectively to communicate sometimes with noisy environments -Ability to read and interpret construction plans and technical specifications. -Ability to bend, twist, reach, stoop, pull, kneel, lift, carry, and push repetitively -Frequent use of hands and arms for typing, telephone -Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions -High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree or relevant technical training preferred. -3 years of relevant field experience in construction materials testing or related discipline. -Work normally performed outside includes exposure to weather conditions such as precipitation, extreme cold or heat, dusty and noisy work environments. -Ability to read and interpret construction documents and perform general civil engineering calculations -Ability to see, smell, hear and touch as well as reach, climb or balance, crouch, stoop, crawl, kneel and sit -Knowledge of construction materials testing methods, ASTM standards, and soil classifications -Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel). -Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, -Ability to accurately complete field-testing paperwork and detailed figures -Ability to lift and/or carry up to 40 lbs -Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record. -Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, work in outdoor conditions, and travel between job sites. -Ability to regularly lift and/or move/shake up to 40lbs. (soil and/or concrete tests and related apparatus); frequently lift and/or move up to 60lbs. (soil and sand samples, and nuclear density equipment); and occasionally move more than 100lbs. (such as a loaded wheelbarrow of concrete samples)
