The Role

Overview

Oversee health and safety planning, compliance, training and audits for the EGL2 HVDC project.

Tasks

-Communicating and promoting the health and safety management ethos and concepts across the project. -Keeping clear records in compliance with company internal audit standards. -Preparing and submitting the monthly safety report in the agreed format. -Monitoring the adequacy of accident investigation and reporting procedures. -Making sure safety issues are addressed during project review meetings. -Ensuring that safety systems and plans meet relevant safety standards. -Liaising directly with the Project Manager on all health and safety matters. -Assisting managers with safety submissions, risk assessments, and vendor evaluations. -Carrying out regular site safety inspections. -Supervising, supporting, and guiding all safety advisors. -Identifying areas for improvement and issues, and escalating them to the project team. -Ensuring the project operates in accordance with statutory health and safety documentation. -Conducting safety audits to ensure compliance and continual improvement. -Delivering training to ensure all personnel are informed and compliant. -Advising and guiding relevant personnel in the setup and maintenance of safety systems.

What You Bring

-Business acumen with full understanding of the commercial impact of decisions. -Successful experience as a Project Safety Manager and as supervisor or an engineer within a construction environment, qualification in Occupational Health and Safety (e.g. NEBOSH Diploma) or related discipline or appropriate proven knowledge and experience (minimum of 3 years). -Capable of leading accident investigations. -Chartered membership of IOSH. -Able to act as a team leader. -Knowledge and experience of operational activities (overhead, underground and substation) on transmission/distribution networks is desirable -Able to communicate at all levels within the project organisation. -Thorough knowledge of OHSAS 45001 standards. -Able to deliver any health and safety training as instructed by the head of health and safety.
