Tasks

-Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and industry regulations. -Labor Costing: Estimating the time and labor required for various fabrication processes, including cutting, welding, bending, machining, and finishing. -Maintain an updated database of material costs, labor rates, and productivity metrics. -Risk Assessment: Identifying potential challenges or risks that could impact the project timeline or budget and incorporating contingencies into the estimate. -Collaboration: Working closely with sales, engineering, purchasing, and production teams to ensure that estimates are accurate and projects can be completed as quoted. -Generating Quotes and Proposals: Preparing detailed, itemized cost estimates and formal proposals for clients. -Keeping up-to-date with industry trends, material costs, and new fabrication technologies to improve estimating accuracy. -Analyzing Blueprints and Specifications: Reviewing technical drawings, blueprints, and project specifications to understand the scope of work and material requirements. -Solicit and evaluate bids from vendors and subcontractors to ensure accurate pricing and scope coverage. -Material Costing: Determining the types, quantities, and costs of raw materials needed, such as steel, aluminum, or various alloys. -Attend pre-bid meetings, site visits, and client consultations as needed.

What You Bring

-Proficiency with estimating software, Microsoft Excel, and ACAD -In-depth knowledge of metal fabrication processes (welding, cutting, forming, finishing) -Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field preferred. -Strong analytical and mathematical skills. -Proven ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and technical documents. -Excellent blueprint reading and technical drawing interpretations abilities. -3–5 years of experience in estimating within [specify industry—e.g., manufacturing, construction, mechanical, or electrical]. -Relevant industry experience, often starting in the shop floor as a fabricator or welder before moving into an estimating role. -Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines under pressure.
