Tasks

-Annual Reconciliation & Processing of T4 Summary and Slips -Ensure accurate union rates are applied and process annual payroll rate changes based on the collective agreement. -Report employee salary changes to ensure accurate benefit deductions -Process bi-weekly salary payroll -Mid-Year and Annual Employee Earnings Reconciliation - ensure accuracy of all deductions and contributions. (ETD, Union Dues, WSIB, EHT, RRSP, Group Benefits) -Participate in annual benefit renewals, benefit surveys and market trends -Update employee rate spreadsheet when changes are made and process rate in Jonas. -Download monthly reports for review and accuracy of payroll deductions -Update deductions, employer contribution amounts in payroll system. -Remain up to date on Federal & Provincial legislation and advise on changes that impact the business and/ or employees. -Process weekly union payroll -Process salary changes and annual employee bonus payments -Process any employee changes in life events that impact benefits coverage -Enroll new hires and terminate exiting employees on the Company Health Benefits Plan -Manage, review and troubleshoot all timesheets entered into Jonas, ensures all postings are reflected into project costing. -Be point of contact for all payroll related questions and issues. -Prepare RRSP Reports to Canada Life -Download RRSP reports for new hire deductions and employee contribution changes for processing -Prepare ad-hoc reports as needed. -Develop and maintain current policies and procedures applicable to payroll and benefits.

What You Bring

-Effective attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy -Sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skills -Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills -Working knowledge of audits, income tax forms, health benefits programs, sick pay, union collective agreements, and retirement plans. -Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality. -Post-secondary education in Accounting/ Business/ Finance along with 3 years of relevant payroll experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. -Adaptable and flexible in a continuous changing work environment -Must be self-motivated, able to work with minimal supervision. -Proficient knowledge in Microsoft office products including Excel, Word, Outlook -Canadian Payroll Association Certificate -Excellent communication skills, strong customer service orientation and a positive team attitude -Working experience with ADP (Workforce Now)
