Tasks

-Perform routine field tests or inspections -Complete and prepare accurate and detailed field-testing reports on a daily basis -Communicate daily with site contractors, other technicians, and project managers verbally and electronically -Document accurate and detailed field activity/inspections and report findings/diagrams to the clients and supervisors -Inspect, assess and determine weld quality meets the acceptable criteria of a specific code or other specifications and safety regulations -Perform inspections of soil, concrete, asphalt, steel and/or wood framing -Travel safely to various job sites in a company provided vehicle; maintain company vehicle (schedule oil changes, inside/outside upkeep and complete monthly vehicle inspection reports) -Complete structural concrete and reinforcing code and job specification compliance -Read maps, blueprints, follow directions, and interpret engineering and construction plans -Verify welding procedures, welder qualifications and material specifications -Determine spray-applied fireproofing code and job specification compliance -Determine pre-stressed and post tension concrete tendons, reinforcing code and job specification compliance -Follow all company safety procedures and policies -Prepare reports with detailed documentation of inspections, testing and findings including any defects or discrepancies

What You Bring

-AAS or BS in Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology or related degree -Frequent use of hands and arms for typing, handling tools, and operating equipment. -Ability to speak and hear effectively to communicate in noisy environments and with project teams. -Certified Welding Inspector certification -Ability to stand, walk, drive, and operate equipment for extended periods. -Ability to lift and/or carry 35 to 75 lbs. up to 75 feet, involving regular repetitive motion. -Moderate to loud noise levels, common in active construction and industrial environments. -Valid Driver's License with acceptable driving record -Ability to accurately complete field-testing paperwork and detailed figures -Ability to bend, twist, reach, stoop, pull, kneel, climb, balance, lift, carry, and push as required for fieldwork and inspections. -Ability to calculate results from construction inspections -Master Special Inspector certification and/or active ICC Certifications in Masonry, Soils, Spray-Applied Fireproofing, Post-Tension, Concrete, etc. or EI (Engineer-in-Training) licensure -Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, detailed reports, short correspondence and memos -Ability to read and interpret construction documents -High School diploma or equivalent -Knowledge or certifications in radiation safety, NCDOT/SCDOT Roadway, Earthworks certification -Understand structural masonry code and job specification compliance -Strong written and verbal communication and ability to use technology/computer -Ability to use your senses to see (including close, distant, and peripheral vison, depth vision, and ability to focus) smell, hear, touch (use hands to reach climb or balance, crouch, stoop, crawl, kneel and sit). -Exposure to environmental elements including dirt, dust, sun, heat, humidity, and adverse weather conditions. -2 years of prior field and/or inspections experience -Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization -Must be at least 18 years old for entry onto job sites
