Tasks

-Analyzes drawings and specifications to determine estimated costs. -Maintain competitive bid history for statistical bidding. -Develops subcontractor bid list and manages the estimating team to ensure adequate bid coverage for each trade. -Uphold the highest standard of quality for all estimating operations. -Consult with clients, architects, subcontractors, and material suppliers to formulate estimates, effect cost reductions (i.e. value engineering), and resolve issues. -Work with operations team throughout the preconstruction process in reviewing plans and specifications for constructability issues. -As lead estimator, manages the estimating team in the assembly and submission of bids to clients. -Conduct project turnover meetings with project management teams for awarded projects. -This position is responsible for the direct supervision of employees in the Estimating department. -Manages estimating team to ensure clear and concise flow of information and documentation throughout the bid process. -Prepares clear, properly formatted Bid Leveling Worksheets for each trade. -Manages the estimating team in the solicitation of bids to subcontractors and material suppliers. -Develop and maintain resource information on products, vendors, subcontractors, government requirements, etc. -Prepares detailed estimates for all design stages: Conceptual, Schematic Design, Design Development, and Construction Documents. -Assists marketing in preparation of final bid proposal documents. -Inspect project site prior to estimating. Verify plan versus site conditions and determine potential problems. -Identify critical materials with long lead times that could cause delay. -Inform immediate supervisor of any observed inaccuracies or omissions in quoted items or computer database. -Seeks and qualifies new subcontractors. -Develops bid packages including, but not limited to, front end documents, scopes of work, bid breakdown forms, site logistics, project schedule, etc. with input from operations. -Prepare bid calendar and ensure timely completion of estimates. -Develops and maintain subcontractor relationships. -Review requirements of Requests for Proposals (RFP’s) and delegate responsibilities to team. -Communicates with subcontractors on key issues including scopes of work, project schedule, addenda, and other bid information. -Develops detailed qualifications and clarifications summary with input from operations. -Develop with Vice President and Marketing Director a strategy for budget and cost presentation to owner. -Develops and manages request for Information and addenda issued during the bid process. -Present and review project estimates with clients, designers, and operations teams. -Performs quantity take-offs of construction documents. -Conduct job evaluation on each completed job.

What You Bring

-Ability to sit with back at a 90-degree angle for up to 8 hours per day. -Ability to occasionally lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary. -High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required. -Reliable transportation and a valid, Florida Driver License required -Full dexterity of wrists and fingers required with repetitive motions. -Ability to regularly lift, push, pull or carry up to 10 pounds. -Ability to occasionally lift, push, pull or carry up to 30 pounds. -Ability to look at a computer for up to 8 hours per day. -Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Business Administration or Civil Engineering preferred. -Ability to navigate a construction site including uneven walkways, crawl spaces, etc. -Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office, On-Screen Takeoff, Bluebeam, and Timberline estimating required. -Minimum of 15 years’ related experience required.
