Engineer overseeing safety, delivery & supervision of a substation refurbishment project.

Tasks

-Support Safety & Environmental tours, safety observations and initiatives. -Use and promote digital tools appropriately and ensure team training -Attend periodic project reviews and meetings. -Ensure operational milestones reflect the master schedule and customer expectations. -Support scope and package assignments to enable coordinated working. -Contribute to continuous improvement workshops. -Manage subcontractors: monitor attendance and progress, provide instruction and support to meet contractual requirements. -Support procurement planning to ensure timely delivery of materials/resources. -Monitor and report on progress, highlighting risks and proposing mitigation measures. -Monitor and follow project targets and KPIs. -Lead on-site teams, fostering a positive safety culture and ensuring compliance with project requirements, objectives and constraints (time, cost, quality, safety). -Support the Project Manager/Director in planning, design, delivery, monitoring, commissioning, and project handover/close out. -Monitor progress, hold weekly meetings and apply Short Interval Control. -Provide data and reports to enable informed, cost-effective decisions in line with strategy. -Prepare internal and external reports and liaise with stakeholders. -Issue and control safety documentation; support incident responses. -Maintain awareness of project cost, budget and commercial impact. -Interpret technical information/drawings and translate into delivery on site. -Ensure compliance with all health, safety and environmental legislation. -Maintain accurate project records (progress reports, daily diaries). -Lead by example in maintaining a relentless focus on Zero Harm. -Maintain Balfour Beatty Digital Group Minimum Standards. -Log and escalate risks and issues beyond delegated authority. -Help develop and update resource-loaded schedules. -Complete audits and set people to work safely. -Support assurance activities (audits) and take action on findings. -Prepare, review and work to RAMS; identify and report risks and hazards. -Implement productivity and project controls techniques. -Set people to work and supervise the delivery of works to achieve “right first time” outcomes, safely, sustainably and within programme and cost targets. -Identify and drive personal development -Effectively manage, support and care for the people delivering the works. -Escalate commercial changes and requisition plant and materials as required.

What You Bring

-Experience in implementing safe systems of work -Able to undertake work in high pressure situations with a flexible attitude -Able to communicate effectively both verbal and written with all levels of the organisation -Good understanding of the standard forms of contracts -Proficient on O365 -Proficient in commercial/project management communications -A record of a solutions-based approach to problem solving -Holds or working towards a formal qualification in construction/engineering or equivalent industry experience -Understand specified engineered solutions and effectively brief working parties to ensure full compliance through to completion. -Good interpersonal skills that enable working relationships to be developed at all levels across the business and be able to negotiate and influence -Experience in managing risks and change processes -Holds CSCS and SSSTS or equivalent
