The Mechanical EIT will collaborate within a multi-disciplinary team to design and produce engineering construction and bid documents for complex projects. They will focus on HVAC and plumbing systems ensuring designs comply with project scope, budget, and schedule requirements and applicable codes, laws, and standards. The role involves developing layouts, diagrams, schedules, and specifications for various types of projects, including commercial, educational, governmental, and health care facilities. The Mechanical EIT will also coordinate with other disciplines to ensure design integration and completeness. -Check complete layouts, drawings, and specifications for accuracy, clarity, completeness, and adherence to standards. -Review shop drawings to ensure compliance with contract documents. -Prepare detailed engineering drawings and layouts using Revit. -Prepare engineering analyses for projects, including preliminary design, budget analysis, calculations, life cycle costs, and equipment selection. -Deliver technical presentations to internal teams and external clients as required during the design process. -Stay updated with industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory changes. -Site inspections, data gathering, investigations and analysis. -Provide complete ducting and piping drawings for contract documents. -Perform field observations as part of the construction quality assurance process. -Collaborate with lead engineers throughout the design process to ensure project compliance with scope, budget, and schedule. -Utilize Trance Trace 3D for building loads and energy analysis for mechanical system design. -Manage project tasks to ensure timely and within-budget project delivery.
Mechanical EIT Level: 4+ Years’ Experience -Engineer in Training (EIT) certification. -Proficiency in using engineering design software such as Revit and BIM systems. -Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel). -Ability to think critically and develop innovative solutions to complex problems. -Ability to identify and avoid potential errors that could impact project outcomes. -High accuracy and attention to detail in all aspects of engineering design and documentation. -Understanding of boilers, chillers, air handlers, pumps, exhaust equipment, and terminal units is desired. -Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field. -Experience working with a multi-disciplined Architectural & Engineering (A&E) team is highly preferred. -Ability to collaborate effectively with team members, other departments, and external partners. -Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for identifying and resolving engineering issues. -Ability to listen and interpret complex information that will be used to develop the design. -Effective communication skills for presenting information clearly, both verbally and in writing. -Familiarity with applicable federal, state, and local building codes, safety laws, and standards (e.g., NFPA, ASHRAE). -Understanding of HVAC systems required. -Ability to generate creative solutions, translate concepts into detailed designs, and apply design principles with precision. -Knowledge of performing building load, pressure loss, ventilation, and fuel gas calculations. -Strong commitment to team collaboration and culture.
