The Role

Overview

Assist in designing municipal infrastructure projects as an engineering intern.

Tasks

-Prepare public reports on topics such as bid proposals, project status reports and design criteria reports. -Perform all design activities ensuring compliance with environmental, safety, or other governmental regulations. -Compute load and grade requirements, water flow rates, or material stress factors to determine design specifications. -Design transportation, utility, facility, or hydraulic systems or structures (as appropriate) using computer assisted design or drawing tools. -Analyze survey reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, aerial photography, or other topographical or geologic data. -Develop or implement engineering solutions to assist clients with improving and maintaining their infrastructure. -Support of the field activities of project construction inspection staff, relating to design criteria, value engineering or changing site conditions. -Assisting with building system design, including HVAC layouts, plumbing, and fire protection detail -Supporting electrical and lighting design efforts for municipal and educational facilities. -Estimate quantities and cost of materials, equipment, or labor to determine project feasibility. -Performing basic engineering calculations and collecting design data to support both civil and MEP project teams. -Conduct studies of traffic patterns or environmental conditions to identify engineering problems and assess potential project impact.

What You Bring

-Oral and written communication skills -Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw conclusions to present to design team members. -Knowledge of computer aided design software -Ability to make public presentations -Ability to work in groups as well as individually -Strong organizational skills and attention to detail -CADD Experience a Plus -Pursuit of a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Civil, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university
