The Role

Overview

Cost consultant handling post‑contract admin and commercial support for water projects.

Tasks

-Liaising with external contractors and consultants. -Working as part of a team alongside the Project Manager and Senior Cost Consultant to administer the post-contract administration of NEC contracts, including assessment of contractual change and payments. -Pre-contract support – including estimating and procurement. -Risk and opportunity (efficiency) – supporting the Client Project Manager in validating costs for the Project Efficiency register before submission. -Commercial support / advice / guidance through all gateways to minimise cost and scope changes throughout the project life cycle. -Auditing and agreeing on Final Accounts. -To support suppliers in providing accurate and validated Project Cost and Financial Forecasts information. -Participation in Risk and value management/meetings as required for the projects.

What You Bring

-Ideally, degree qualified (or equivalent) in a relevant subject. -Experience in water and wastewater and/or regulated industries is desirable. -Possess the skills to actively support the internal team and manage more junior staff on projects typically ranging between £1m and £20m. -Demonstrating self-management and prioritisation skills with the ability to work under pressure. -NEC Contract experience. -Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to influence stakeholders and third parties. -Ideally appropriate professional body membership, MRICS or working towards chartership. -Good knowledge of specialised fields, including construction processes and cost and commercial management in a consultancy setting.
