The Role

Overview

Operates and maintains VoIP/unified communications systems, handling outages and upgrades.

Tasks

-Develops and submits reports to meet functional, contractual and compliance requirements. -Performs technical solutions and costing projections for projects. -Perform periodic preventative maintenance inspections and systems maintenance actions to ensure optimal delivery of services and longevity of system resources. -Works to install, test, program, maintain, and inspect UC and legacy voice systems and associated sub-systems (circuits, trunks, interface units, channel banks, alarm, and other associated equipment). -Assists in developing and maintaining technical documentation. -Reviews Communications Service Agreement (CSA) requirements for USAF compliance. -Reviews work to ensure production and accuracy of systems configuration, licenses and optimization. -Performs diagnostics, isolation and corrective action on UC and other sub-systems to resolve outages. -Conduct special communications management studies (traffic analysis, Fill Rate) as required. -Manages power system(s) platforms in support of Unified Communications Systems. -Performs work in the field as a field technician to install customer premise equipment as needed. -May solicit market research for communications projects; reviews and recommend selection of vendor proposals -Document, track, and update any local tracking system or database system for the purpose of workload and metric reporting. -Monitors results against technical specifications. -Manages, programs and operates UC, voicemail (V/M) and converged network platforms. -Coordinates with commercial agencies on necessary circuit assignments, activations and terminations (Bell South, MCI, Sprint, AT&T. etc.). -Advance use of test equipment (e.g. telephone test sets, volt and ohmmeters).

What You Bring

-Able to reside at a desk, troubleshooting network-related issues for extended periods. -Ability to obtain and maintain clearances and certifications required by the government for the role. -DHCP and OSI layers. -Have correct color vision and fine motor skills and dexterity. Occasional prolonged standing and or working on ladders is required. Some work locations include non-environmentally controlled areas. -perimeter networking (SDP). -Network management software (SolarWinds). -DoD 8140 Information Awareness Technology Certification (e.g. COMPTIA Security+). -Immediate knowledge on analog and digital TDM applications and uses. -Understanding of enhanced 911 systems, Defense Information Systems Agency Unified Capabilities Requirements, and Time Division Multiplexing (TDM). -Network routing and switching (subnetting, VLANS, STP, EIGRP, OSPF). -Extensive knowledge in: -High School diploma required. Bachelor's degree in an associated Information Technology discipline preferred. -Advance knowledge in UC telecommunications principles (e.g., VoIP, Call Manager, switching, traffic, signaling, and networking sub-systems). -8+ years of experience with Information Technology solutions. Or 3 years of experience and an accredited bachelor’s degree in an IT field. -Valid Driver’s License with acceptable driving record pertinent to the position. -Industry/DoD standards (IEEE, TIA, USAF/DISA). -5+ years of relevant experience in network engineering experience specifically within Voice/ VoIP Ability to deal with a variety of people in a professional, courteous manner in diversified situations. -Wireless technology and RF promulgation (802.11). -Excellent data, oral and written communication, and people skills. Ability to effectively communicate with customers. -Ability to successfully pass background checks and drug testing required on the contract. -Able to lift up to 40 lbs. unassisted, heavier items assisted. -Trouble ticket tracking systems (Service Now). -Secure network platforms (SIPR, TACLANe). -U.S. Citizenship. -Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) with Voice Over IP experience (CCNP Voice or Collaboration) and maintain valid CCNP credentials.
