The Role

Overview

Prepare unit rate takeoffs and estimates to support electrical construction projects.

Tasks

-Perform audits, sometimes daily, at jobsite to assist in preparation of takeoffs. -Interpret computerized cost data and systems -Responsible for the timely completion of all client-required documents. -Request quotes from suppliers for equipment and materials when directed by the Project Management team. -Perform arithmetic calculations required for estimating -As necessary meet with Project Management to review takeoffs for additional clarification, help needs or discrepancies between actual hours and takeoff hours. -Draft scope letter inclusions, exclusions, and clarifications for estimates as directed by the Project Management team when needed. -Read and interpret blueprints and/or engineering design drawings -Review proposal specifications and drawings to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate. -Maintain files of working and final documents throughout the entire process for each scope of work. -Prioritize and manage multiple tasks and change priorities as necessary -Prepare estimates by calculating complete takeoffs using a predetermined estimating program & reviewing computer printout for accuracy and completeness. -Identify qualified suppliers/subcontractors and solicit quotes when directed by the Project Management team. Review quotes for completeness with plans and specifications and alignment with unit rate compensation structure. -Identify and meet customers’ needs, expectations, and requirements -Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of specific variables in situations where only limited standardization exists

What You Bring

-Occasional lifting of up to 30 lbs. -Advanced knowledge of assigned discipline, construction technology, estimating techniques and cost control -Work under pressure and adapt to changing requirements with a positive attitude -Oral and written communication skills as required for the position -Self-motivated, proactive and an effective team player -Interact effectively and professionally with all levels of employees, both management and staff alike, vendors, clients, and others -Minimum 2 years’ experience estimating commercial construction projects, preferably in electrical construction -Proficient in using a computer and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, etc.) -Experience estimating unit rate contracts preferred -General work environment - sitting for extended periods, standing, walking, typing, carrying, pushing, bending. Work is conducted primarily indoors with varying environmental conditions, such as fluorescent lighting and air conditioning.
