The Role

Tasks

-Communicate effectively with ground crews and other operators to ensure safe and coordinated operations. -Assigned Equipment Certification for Spider Excavators -Operate spider excavators to complete excavation, drilling, and material handling tasks in difficult terrain. -Utilize winch systems, stabilizers, and climbing capabilities of the spider excavator for safe and effective operation on steep slopes. -Perform regular maintenance checks and troubleshoot equipment to ensure continuous operations. -Communicate effectively with crew members to clarify daily job site duties. -Perform final inspections of job sites to ensure safety and quality before demobilization. -Comply with all company policies, including Health and Safety standards, Drug and Alcohol policy, Travel policy, Vehicle policy, and Employee Manual. -Maintain and use required personal protective equipment (PPE) and assigned small tools (e.g., cell phones, tablets, radios). -Troubleshoot and report mechanical issues to the Superintendent and coordinate necessary repairs. -Install geohazard mitigation products per job site drawings and Standard Operating Procedures as directed by the Superintendent. -Oversee site preparation, equipment mobilization, and material distribution to ensure the safe and efficient execution of tasks. -Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports for the Foreman or Superintendent. -Perform daily equipment inspections and routine maintenance to ensure optimal machine performance. -Provide support in managing project budgets, timelines, and logistics when needed. -Operate heavy equipment, including excavators, skid steers, man lifts, and forklifts, to complete construction tasks. -Obtain and maintain required certifications within 30 days of hire, including but not limited to: -Assist in the installation of geohazard mitigation systems per job site drawings and Standard Operating Procedures as directed by the Superintendent.

What You Bring

-Ability to take charge of projects, lead teams, and work autonomously with minimal supervision. -Basic computer and cell phone proficiency required. -Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills to manage and motivate a crew. -Experience or certifications for heavy equipment operations (skid steer, forklift, Bobcat, Scissor lift, or CDL vehicles.) -Strong experience in operating heavy construction equipment and managing its use on job sites. -Regular heavy lifting (75lbs+) of construction materials on the job site. -Class A CDL preferred. -In-depth understanding of high-angle scaling, rockfall mitigation, and geohazard stabilization procedures. -Experience with shotcrete or grouting pumps on the job. -Experience directing teams, managing customer interactions, or managing projects. -CPR/First Aid -Ability to mentor and train less experienced staff in technical skills, safety, and equipment use. -More years of experience and technical expertise with the tools and technologies in drilling. -Respirator Fit Test -Ability to work in high-pressure environments and ensure team collaboration. -Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to address challenges quickly and effectively. -Prior experience operating spider excavators in geohazard or extreme terrain environments required. -Safety-focused mindset with the ability to identify hazards and implement corrective measures. -Ability to drive (CMV or CDL) -Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software -Ability to read and interpret project plans, blueprints, and specifications. -OSHA 10 -The noise level in the work environment is moderate and hearing protection is often required.
