The Role

Overview

Assist skilled trades workers with tools, materials, cleaning, and basic tasks.

Tasks

-Must have and maintain hand tools of the trade to perform the normal work of the classifications. -The kind of work the helper is permitted to perform varies from trade to trade. In some trades the helper is confined to supplying, lifting, and holding materials and tools, performing fire watch duties, and cleaning work areas; and in others the helper is permitted to perform specialized machine operations, or parts of a trade that are also performed by workers on a full‑time basis. -Assists one or more workers in the skilled maintenance trades by performing specific or general duties of lesser skill, such as keeping a worker supplied with materials and tools; cleaning working area, machine, and equipment; assisting journeyman by holding materials or tools; and performing other unskilled tasks as directed by journeyman.

What You Bring

-Must be able to follow blueprint, diagram, or other types of written or verbal instructions. -Ability to successfully pass any background checks and/or drug testing required on the contract. -Ability to obtain and maintain a Favorable National Agency Check w/Inquiries (NACI); or the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance at the Secret level, as applicable to the position requirement. -Must obtain and maintain required explosives certifications when assigned to ordnance operations. -and clearance eligibility when required. Must be able to lift from 50 – 70 lbs., depending on assignment. -U.S. Citizenship. -One-year experience or equivalent in one of the general trade areas including the placement of insulation materials. Vocational training may be substituted for experience. -Ability to obtain & maintain valid Driver’s License and an acceptable driving record. -Must have knowledge of tools and equipment used in the trade. -Must possess good communication skills for a service team environment.
