Tasks

-Mentor junior staff in design tasks and technical best practices. -Conduct road safety and traffic operations analysis to inform design decisions (not planning studies). -Lead and deliver detailed design for transportation infrastructure projects, including municipal roads, highways, LRT/BRT corridors, and active transportation facilities. -Ensure all designs are compliant with applicable standards and guidelines (e.g., TAC, Ontario Traffic Manuals, MTO requirements). -Perform quality checks for technical accuracy and completeness prior to submittal. -Maintain effective communication with clients, attend design meetings, and deliver technical presentations if required. -Coordinate and integrate utility, drainage, and grading designs in collaboration with other engineering disciplines. -Support the preparation of tender packages and respond to contractor inquiries during construction. -Develop engineering drawings and models using MicroStation, OpenRoads, AutoCAD, and Civil 3D. -Prepare and review design documents, construction drawings, specifications, and cost estimates for roadways, intersections, and transit facilities.

What You Bring

-Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills. -Demonstrated ability to manage multiple design tasks, prioritize workload, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. -Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with PEO. -Strong understanding of relevant technical standards, including TAC Geometric Design Guide, Ontario Traffic Manuals, and the Ontario Highway Traffic Act. -4-6 years of direct experience in transportation design: municipal roads, highways, LRT/BRT, intersection improvements, and active transportation infrastructure. -Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Transportation Engineering. -Proficient in MicroStation, OpenRoads, AutoCAD, Civil 3D. -Working knowledge of specialized software (e.g., Synchro, AutoTurn) to support design tasks.
