The Role

Overview

Install, maintain, and repair electric distribution lines on weekends.

Tasks

-Operates vehicles of various sizes, weights, and descriptions safely and cautiously, following all local, state, and federal rules and regulations, including DOT and Commercial Driver's License requirements. -Working with Foreman to respond to and resolve customer complaints, explaining programs, policies, and procedures -Prepares and maintains various operational reports and paperwork for submission as required, including safety reports, work orders, and other assigned documents. -Attend regular training as required; participate in any other meetings, training, or other required programs as specified, including all safety meetings, and maintain and follow all safety requirements as outlined by CDE Lightband, APPA, OSHA, TOSHA, and any other local, state, or regulatory agency. -Monitors and maintains inventory of parts and equipment while working with warehouse personnel to maintain accurate outgoing and incoming connections with assigned work; notifies supervisor when levels are low -Installs, maintains, and repairs electric systems, which may include Constructing, installing, removing, and servicing secondary distribution lines both overhead and underground, as well as performing work on energized and de-energized lines. It frequently requires digging when installing poles, anchors, and underground lines.

-Knowledge of and Skilled in Electric utility operating methods -Skilled in accepting, receiving, and transferring training and training principles -Ability to pay attention to the minute details of a project or task -Requires constant indoor and outdoor work with potential for extreme outdoor temperatures -Skilled in electrical line work, energized when required -Skilled in reading and comprehending training documents -Knowledgeable of applicable Federal, State, and local laws, rules, and regulations -Knowledgeable of and Skilled in Customer service principles and practices -Skilled in Troubleshooting and resolving complex problems -Skilled and Able to climb utility poles with energized lines, when necessary, and use aerial devices to service broken or defective wires or equipment, and able to work in underground vaults and access a diversity of workspaces -Ability to work independently and individually, and exercise independent judgment and initiative while working under supervision and following directions and work orders -Knowledgeable of Occupational hazards and Safety Regulations associated with electrical transmission and distribution -Ability to accept responsibility and account for his/her actions -Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems -Indoor & Outdoor working position, requiring incumbents to travel from the office to the worksite via company vehicle. -Effectively capable of climbing utility poles to perform work when necessary, safely, and meet all safety requirements on an annual basis -Reside no farther than 30 minutes (max) driving from the main office. -Ability to visually identify colors independently of each other -Ability to identify and correct conditions that affect employee safety -Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both in writing and through the spoken word. -Skilled in and the Ability to perform physical work during extreme conditions for the entire duration of the workday and beyond into extended hours if necessary, if duties of the job require. -Knowledgeable of and Skilled in construction tools and methods used for Electric transmission and distribution line construction and maintenance -Skilled in Basic Computer and related software applications -Potential to work outside regular working hours
