The Role

Overview

Manage design‑build civil projects, overseeing scope, schedule, quality, and client engagement.

Tasks

-Occasionally visiting project locations and performing field inspections which may involve walking, standing, kneeling, or navigating uneven terrain. -Review plans, prepare or review technical specifications, contract documents and estimates. -Lead, develop and review post design construction related tasks including; NDCs, FDCs, RFIs, PCO’s and manage design risk through construction. -Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, offering expert guidance and proactive support throughout all phases of the project lifecycle. -Assure the project team complies with the contract agreement as well as exercises rigid cost control to implement the approved design within established budget restraints -Support the Design Manager to coordinate with all complimentary disciplines (roadway, drainage, structural, traffic, public involvement and environmental), technical preparation and supervision of roadway and transit design tasks including quality reviews. -Conduct site visits and inspections as necessary to ensure compliance with project requirements and industry standards. -Managing design build project tasks, ensuring efficient coordination of timelines, budgets, and resources to achieve successful project outcomes. -Enhance your skills in identifying and overcoming challenges through innovative problem-solving approaches, utilizing both traditional and modern engineering techniques. -Occasionally may be required to lift objects weighing up to 15 lbs. -Support the management of the project, scope, schedule, design, and quality. -Mentor team members to support their professional growth and development. -Traveling to project sites or client meetings, which may involve driving or flying. -Foster strong client relationships by actively listening to client needs, providing clear communication, and delivering customized solutions that align with their objectives.

What You Bring

-Duties are primarily conducted in a standard office setting, requiring prolonged periods of sitting at a desk or computer table. -Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering -5+ Years of experience on large Department of Transportation (DOT) projects -Familiarity with WSDOT Standard Plans and Standard Specifications and Design Manual -Strong knowledge of construction means, methods and techniques -Learn to assess risks and develop mitigation strategies to contribute to project success. -Minimum of 8 year of of civil design and management experience with a PE in the State of Washington or ability to get reciprocity -Demonstrated enthusiasm for developing design and project management skills. -Experience working with contractors who are active in the Puget Sound Region. -Excellent teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills. -DBIA Professional -Proven capability to work dynamically and effectively in a collaborative environment. -Experiencing delivering alternative project delivery procurements for WSDOT, Sound Transit or other similar agencies.
