Tasks

-Providing technical design and guidance on projects including preparing engineering studies, documents and reports -Adhering to company standards for quality assurance and quality control as defined in the quality manual -Interacting with clients and the public related to your work and understanding of the context of the plans you develop -Prepare correspondence and documents with clients, subconsultants, and regulatory agencies as required -Organizing activities, schedules and reports in support of design projects -Assisting the team in development of Engineering Interns -Prepare, issue and track project documentation such as contracts, change orders, etc. for all phases of assigned project work. -Market new and existing clients -Provide plan review and project management for Volkert clients in Alabama -Lead or assist in the development of project designs and directing designers to successfully execute and deliver project work, while implementing client focused strategies

What You Bring

-5+ years of experience -Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening to ensure a safe and productive work environment. Volkert adheres to federal guidelines, which may include testing for substances such as marijuana. Please note that federal regulations may differ from state-specific guidelines -ALDOT or local government design experience preferred -Alabama Professional Engineer (PE) License is required -Able to maintain project schedules, which may require occasional extended hours and overnight travel -Valid driver’s license -Other PE licenses and/or certifications are a plus -Effective verbal and written communication skills -Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering -Proficient in the use of MS Office tools such as Excel, Word, and Powerpoint -Must be dependable with the ability to work independently to accomplish tasks as well as part of the team to meet deadlines and provide high quality work -Experience with computer programs such as MicroStation, ArcGIS, InRoads, various CAD, and OpenRoads Designer -A satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR)
