Take live readings (Phase rotation, voltage level, etc.) post energisation and record on energisation request form. Ensure all post-connection/ live test results are compliant in the jurisdiction.
Review and approve Sub-Contractor Electrical RAMS
Assist Senior Authorised Persons to remain compliant in the completion of the necessary internal audits such as Self-Assessment COHE Audit and Audit for the inspection of temporary electrics.
Report any electrical events to SAP
Identify potential hazards and implement mitigation measures.
Ensure the segregation of hazardous areas and the correct use of Electrical PPE
Ensure that all works are conducted in accordance with the client directives.
Perform safe energisations, isolations and functional switching
Perform a variety of commissioning duties including, but not limited to, MCC's, VSD's, distribution panels, motors, lighting and small power circuits.
Enforcement of the Electrical Permit to Work system, Approve/ cancel/ close electrical safety related permits relating to the voltage range you are nominated for. (Low Voltage/ Medium voltage)
Review of commissioning process’
Authorise Energisation and Isolation Requests once all criteria have been met for the nominated voltage range
Assist in electrical incident investigations
Execution of switching schedules/notes post approval from the SAP and Energy Marshall
Establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships with site supervisors, peer workers and vendors.
Perform panel inspections and complete ‘Pre Energisation Checklists’ prior to energisations.

Inspect, commission, troubleshoot, associated control systems and power circuits and switchgear
Reporting of any electrical incidents to SAP and Energy Marshall
Site management of the Mercury “In Progress” snagging system ensuring that the supervisors conduct the works is a safe and controlled manner.
Ensure that communications to the SAP and CxA are timely, clear and precise in relation to switching operations.
Operational control of safe switching (Energisation/Isolations) during the commissioning phase.
Ensure any concerns and updates are offered to the Person in Charge of an Electrical Installation and Senior Engineer
Perform testing, Insulation Resistance, Point to Point, grounding etc. providing a sound knowledge of the testing equipment to be utilised. Ensure all pre-connection/ dead test results are compliant in the jurisdiction.
Review and understanding of Sub-Contractor COHE (Control of Hazardous Energies)
Ensure areas are secured which are under permit control.
Perform and demonstrate Live Dead Live testing as required.
Issue internal weekly progress report, to the SAP, highlighting all changes in electrical conditions on site.
Ensure that the correct tags are applied to all equipment awaiting energisation
Assistance within the Commissioning process from Level 1 through to Level 5.
Monitor the condition of PPE and safety equipment, advice Senior Authorised Person of calibration requirements or replacement safety equipment as required.
Be or become conversant with latest local jurisdictional electrical regulations.
Ensure that all warning signs are in place and checked at regular intervals

Experience performing / supervising advance cable works including phasing, testing, identifying & spiking (Spiking is a specialist skill requiring a licence in many jurisdictions, it may not be required as essential but experience of, and being conversant with the process is essential)
Where the jurisdiction requires, complete a recognised course in Verification, Testing and Certification.
Understand, interpret and work from various forms of project documentation such as Punchlist Procedure, As Built Procedure, Vendor Manuals etc.
If not done so during proof of qualification, provide evidence of successful completion of colour vision test.
Be a qualified electrician awarded the National Craft Certificate as part of the national Framework of Qualifications or equivalent in the jurisdiction and verified by Naric.
Become familiar with, comply with and enforce through permitting and auditing, the relevant Mercury SOP’s including but not limited to Control of Hazardous Energies Procedure and Operating and Energisation Procedures for Work on LV & MV Systems.
Experience managing work and safety precautions across control boundaries.
Understanding of EN and local code Regulations.
Have completed a recognised MV/HV switching course if being appointed as an MV Authorised Person
Successfully complete any training deemed necessary by Mercury in the jurisdiction.
Be conversant with Arc flash mitigation including PPE selection, condition and maintenance.
Demonstrate a full understanding of all applicable policies and work methods associated with assigned duties to commission electrical equipment and to perform other duties as required.
Demonstrated history of delivering HV/MV Infrastructure projects, DC / DNO / IDNO / Power Generation (If being appointed as an Authorised Person for MV, be familiar with LV infrastructure and equipment if being nominated as an Authorised Person for LV)
Have successfully obtained a suitable electrical award, equivalent to Level 6 or higher on the National Framework of Qualifications.
Understand the need for and adherence to the Permit to Work and Lock-Out Tag-Out Procedures and follow safe working practices.
Understanding of the Mercury site specific ESSOW (Electrical Safe System of Work).
