Overview
Support traffic impact studies, design, planning, and client meetings for transportation projects.

Tasks
-Learn project budgets to meet financial metrics -Assist with and prepare roadway design plans -Assist with development of traffic impact studies, land use planning, master plan studies, traffic signal warrant studies, bikeway planning and design, community and campus planning, technical report writing -Attend project meetings with clients -Assist in preparing conceptual intersection layouts, schematics, signal timings and engineering reports -Work on traffic signal design plans for new intersections and signal modifications to facilitate multimodal accommodations -Work on temporary traffic control plan/traffic management plan (TMP) and signing, pavement marking plans -Assist with preparation of technical reports for traffic impact studies, interchange access requests, or safety studies

What You Bring
-EIT (E.I) Certification is preferred -Willingness and motivation to curate and eventually develop personal client base -Self-starter and capable of completing tasks with minimal oversight -Valid driver’s license -Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening to ensure a safe and productive work environment. Volkert adheres to federal guidelines, which may include testing for substances such as marijuana. Please note that federal regulations may differ from state-specific guidelines -Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and written -Familiarity with DOT traffic design standards, MUTCD and AASHTO -BS in Civil Engineering -Familiarity with traffic analyses software such as VISSIM, Synchro/Simtraffic, Sidra Intersection, HCS are desired but not required -2 - 4 years of experience -Experience with transportation planning, including comprehensive corridor analysis, local programs, public involvement, safety and access, pedestrian and bicycle planning, multimodal planning and traffic operations are desired but not required -Experience with OpenRoads Designer is desired but not required -A satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR) -Potential to learn and participate in business development activities
