Tasks
The Head Engineering - responsible for leading all substation-related engineering functions, ensuring operational efficiency, safety, and cost-effectiveness. This role is pivotal in driving the design, execution, and optimization of substation projects, aligning with BU's strategic focus on expanding its transmission network and enhancing reliability. The position supports pre-bid activities, project execution, and operations & maintenance (O&M) while fostering innovation and leveraging advanced technologies to achieve excellence in engineering outcomes. -Provide robust technical support to O&M teams, conducting root cause analyses for system malfunctions and implementing proactive maintenance strategies to ensure substation reliability. • Oversee engineering documentation and testing protocols for substation systems to facilitate successful commissioning and ensure readiness for operational requirements. -This expertise is critical for ensuring the design, optimization, and execution of substation projects align with AESL's strategic goals of operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness. -Guide the estimation team in preparing detailed cost analyses and reliable estimates during pre-bid stages to ensure competitive and financially sound project proposals. -Integrate advanced engineering software and tools such as ETAP, AutoCAD Electrical, and PLS CADD to enhance design precision and efficiency. -Champion the adoption of advanced technologies, including AI-driven design tools and real time monitoring software, to streamline substation design and improve project timelines. -Collaborate with the pre-bid team to deliver accurate and compliant engineering documentation, drawings, and Bill of Quantities (BOQs) to strengthen competitive bidding. -Foster strong collaboration between engineering, procurement, project management, and O&M teams to ensure seamless communication and project alignment. -The candidate must champion the adoption of new technologies and implement data-driven decision-making processes to enhance engineering capabilities. -The candidate must foster a culture of excellence and continuous improvement, ensuring the team aligns with project goals and company standards. -Mentor and develop engineering team members, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement. -Drive cost-effective design solutions by identifying and implementing design improvements that optimize substation layout, reduce material costs, and extend asset lifespan. -Lead substation design activities, ensuring compliance with IS, IEEE, CBIP, CEA, and IEC standards, and alignment with project specifications.

What You Bring
Substation Engineering Expertise Educational Background -Expertise in AutoCAD Electrical for detailed engineering drawings. -The role requires strong leadership skills to manage and mentor a team of engineers effectively. -Proficiency in ETAP for electrical system analysis and design. -Deep technical knowledge of substation design, including load calculations, earthing, and grounding designs. -Proficiency in advanced engineering software and tools like ETAP, AutoCAD Electrical, and PLS CADD is non-negotiable. -Extensive experience with different types of substations, including Outdoor (Air) and Gas (Indoor) substations. -The candidate must possess in-depth knowledge and experience in substation engineering, including Outdoor (Air) and Gas (Indoor) substations. -The ability to work with standards such as IS, IEEE, CBIP, CEA, and IEC is essential to maintain high-quality design standards and regulatory compliance. -Master’s (M.E. / M.Tech.) degree is preferred. -Familiarity with advanced engineering software such as ETAP, AutoCAD Electrical, and PLS CADD. -15+ years of experience in substation engineering, including design, execution, and O&M support. Demonstrated expertise in large-scale substation projects and advanced engineering tools. -Proven experience in managing engineering teams and driving cost and reliability-focused engineering solutions. -B.E. / B.Tech. in Electrical or Civil Engineering. -Expertise in integrating innovative technologies to enhance substation performance and reliability. -Familiarity with PLS CADD for transmission line design and optimization. -In-depth knowledge of electrical distribution and substation design, with expertise in standards such as IS, IEEE, CBIP, CEA, and IEC
