Tasks

-Lead the design and development of traffic engineering components, including maintenance of traffic (MOT) plans, signing and pavement marking layouts, and traffic signal systems, ensuring compliance with MDOT standards, the Michigan Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (OMUTCD), and applicable design guidelines. -Collaborate with clients, local agencies, and contractors to deliver high-quality solutions. -Mentor and support junior staff; coordinate with other disciplines and regional offices (OH, MI, IN). -Manage project scope, schedule, budget, quality, and communication. -Prepare technical reports, proposals, and construction cost estimates. -Conduct traffic impact studies, safety studies, signal optimization, and traffic forecasting.

What You Bring

-Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering -Experience with Highway Capacity Software (HCS), Synchro; TransModeler is a plus. -Familiarity with ITE Trip Generation Manual, complex MOT design, and traffic studies. -Proficiency in MicroStation; experience with AutoCAD/Civil 3D is a plus. -Excellent verbal and written communication skills. -10+ years of experience in traffic engineering, including MDOT-related projects. -Michigan PE license required. -Experience with ITS and highway lighting design is a plus. -Strong knowledge of MDOT traffic standards and guidelines.
