Overview

Design and develop railway electrification systems as a graduate engineer

Tasks

-Provide support and input to Design Engineers on allocated projects. -Undertake design of electrical traction systems, substation design and railway system design under the mentorship of a senior designer. -Maintain technical and safety standards in all aspects of design work in order that successful project implementation and future reliability is achieved. -Maintain continuous communication with colleagues and customers to ensure coherent design and customer satisfaction. -Develop own professional knowledge and competence, maintaining an awareness of developments in the industry and identifying opportunities for innovation. -Undertake other design activities under direction as required to develop broad railway electrical engineering knowledge and capability including carrying out site surveys. -Carry out innovative work and analysis of electrical systems using state-of-the-art tools and analytical software. -Discharge safety responsibilities in relation to CDM Regulations, Health and Safety legislation, Company procedures and project Safety Plans. -Support problem solving and site engineering when required. -Contribute to the Siemens Zero Harm policy -Communicate technical results effectively within Siemens and to clients, alongside colleagues in the design team.

What You Bring

-The drive and self motivation to achieve Chartered or Incorporated Status and to continuously develop your technical & behavioral skills. -Strong attention to detail and ability to make correct judgments. -Flexible approach to work, and ability to prioritise and manage your time effectively. -Willingness to be based at a location different to your contracted location for a period of up to six months within your two-year graduate scheme (funded by Siemens) -Willingness to travel across the UK and occasionally abroad for project meetings and FAT attendance. -Excellent verbal and written communication skills. -Achieved or be on track to achieve a 2:2 or above in a electrical and/or electronic engineering degree -Ability to work on your own initiative. -Ability to apply technical knowledge in analysing problems and creating innovative solutions. -Ability to work, communicate effectively and report at all levels within multidisciplinary teams.
