Overview
Lead mechanical/chemical engineering projects for Savannah River Site.

Tasks
-Evaluate the results of programs and prepare reports and recommendations based on these evaluations. -Give quality guidance and assistance to less senior professionals on related tasks. -Develop schedules, monitor progress, monitor expenditures of budget and review quality of work performed. -Incorporate advanced technical practices and a variety of complex features such as complicated technical requirements, application of new or special materials or processes and difficult coordination or oversight requirements into problem solving and program planning. -Identify and recommend improvements where established technology components and methodology are inadequate for solution. -Provide direction and position responsibility both inside and outside department lines on programs seeking new approaches to problems and new applications of existing engineering or scientific principles. -Keep informed of the advancement of technology as applied through one's area of technology. -Occasionally prepare reports for external publication. -Apply technical experience in field of specialization or broad-based experience in multiple technical fields, to resolve complex problems. -Creatively meet all company and industry requirements and apply site systems to achieve quality, timely and cost-effective results. -Prepare plans including schedules, budgets and personnel requirements for solving technical tasks identified by management. -Provide leadership in determining solutions to complex problems and be recognized as having expertise in a functional area(s) of technical expertise. -Communicate results and objectives verbally and in manuscripts form to customers colleagues and management. -Define scope of technical programs and develop effective, quality solutions to challenges which involve unique or controversial problems. -Enhance expertise in field through leadership in local technical societies.

What You Bring
-Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE “Q” clearance. -A minimum of 10 years design experience in the nuclear or process chemical industry. -Must demonstrate a minimum of 5 years of experience working at one or more DOE facilities. -Previous SRS Design Engineering experience and working knowledge of SRNS design processes and procedures. -Must demonstrate experience creating and revising documentation in one or more of the following areas: Process Flow; Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams; System Descriptions; Mechanical Equipment Lists; Mechanical Equipment Sizing; Pipe and Valve Specifications; Failure Analysis; Accident Analysis; Finite Element Analysis; ASME Code Design and Evaluation; Pipe Stress Analysis; Material Handling Design; Fire Protection Design; HVAC Design; and Vendor Document Reviews. -Must demonstrate a minimum of 5 years of experience working in a nuclear industry/facility. -Must be able to perform weekly field walk-downs of the job site for the engineering work being performed (these walk downs may involve construction sites with uneven surfaces and work in progress, walking for distances of over half a mile, climbing of ladders to access remote areas, dressing out in protective clothing and environments where a respirator is required). -Demonstrate creative ability through medium of patent disclosures, problem solving, engineering reports, technical papers and articles. -Possessed an active DOE clearance (L or Q) within the past two (2) years. -Ph.D. degree in applicable science or engineering discipline and 5+ years’ experience OR A MS with 8+ years’ experience OR A BS with 10+ years or more experience. BS Degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering or current registration as a Professional Engineer in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering. -Must be a U.S. Citizen
