Overview

Design and lead bridge/structures projects, mentor staff, ensure safety and client compliance.

Tasks

-Leading a team, producing technically sound engineering solutions. -Overseeing the actions of more junior members of staff undertaking similar tasks and taking responsibility for their actions. -Managing a small, locally based single discipline technical team and taking responsibility for delivery of their workload. -Takes ownership for the preparation and checking of deliverables and can check deliverables to a reasonable standard. -Contributing to the professional development of junior staff and acting as a Delegated Engineer. -Contributing to the preparation of bids and general work winning function. -Drive effective Health and Safety practices within the team. -Taking ownership and leading projects from start to finish, from preparing the quotation all the way to handover. -Preparation and checking of designs, calculations, drawings and documentation as part of the production of scheme deliverables that satisfy the criteria of quality, cost and programme. -Liaising with Client and supplier representatives at peer level, attending progress meetings, and responding to queries.

What You Bring

-Substantially experienced in the management and communication of hazards and risks on projects and ensures appropriate risk mitigation and transference has been applied. -Has a good understanding of CDM and risk assessment. -Developed experience and expertise within Structures field, probably gained in an Engineer role or equivalent. -Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in an appropriate subject or demonstrable equivalent further learning. -Very good working knowledge of relevant software and similar analytical tools (e.g LUSAS, Autodesk Structural Bridge Design). -Incorporated or Chartered status with the ICE or IstructE. or an equivalent professional licence gained through the professional institution to which the individual is aligned is desirable and may be essential on particular contracts. -Lifecycle management for the DBFO2 Network in Northern Ireland (M1, A4 and A1). -An ability to produce or oversee the production of technically sound engineering solutions, complying with all relevant technical standards and Client’s requirements. -Demonstrates a good understanding of interface management, and ensures own deliverables align with deliverables produced by other disciplines.
